This study aimed to explore of what factors that influencing gratitude of Muslim parents who having children with special needs. This study was a preliminary stage to develop an instrument of specific gratitude. The research methods used literature study and qualitative approach by in-depth interview. The subjects were six couple of parent from childrens with special needs. The result found that there were differences as well as similarities about concept of gratitude between Western perspective and Islam particularly in term of appreciation and expression. Gratitude emerged to respond something acquired covering things, happiness moments, ability to cope difficulties, and weaknesses. There was also having added value namely spiritual experience that pushed motive to getting closer toward Alloh SWT. Positive feeling and emotion emerged such as kindhearted, positive thinking, and optimistic in facing the life.
Basically each person has different character strength in achieving the goal expected. The character strength becomes a typical structure of an individual's personality that distinguishes itself from the others. Individuals with high achievement motivation will attempt to set a specific goal, using some strategic measurements, highly will-power, and always worked hard. This study aimed to explore the character strength of students who are excellence in academic. The method used mix method which are combine both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The numbers of subjects in this study were 30 students from 9 faculties in UIN Sunan Gunung Djati whom selected based on the highest GPA score. The character strength had seen from the individually measurements results of the Values in Action-Inventory strenghts (VIA-IS) which consists of 240 items in the form of scale Likert. Interviews with subjects than have been conducted to gained more information related to the character strength of them. The results has showed that a strength of character typical of the outstanding students, namely Hope, Perseverance, and Spirituality.
This study focused on the decision-making process became the second wife in a polygamous marriage by highly-educated women along with the factors that influence it. This study is a qualitative approach with subjects were 3 women aged 30-55 years old with minimum education level was undergraduate and serves as a second wife. From the interviews analysis, it concluded that the decision-making process undertaken by subjects were very diverse and complicated. All subjects through every stage of the decision making process vary depending on the obstacles and problems that they faced. The main factors that affect the subjects in the decision became the second wife is a factor of circumstances, in particular subjects who came from descended polygamy marriage and belief factor, that being the second wife is the providence of God that must be accepted. Suggestions for further research are expected to perform data retrieval from significant others who know the decision-making process taken by the subject
This research based on the phenomena that some teachers have not done their job effectively and efficiently. It is expected that emotional intelegence has correlation with that phenomena. Emotional intelegence is an individual ability to know their own emotion, manage the emotion, motivate themselves, have emphaty and skill in relationship. Some aspects in emotional intelegence expected have correlation with performance. Population are teachers MTs At Taqwa Tangerang who are actively doing the teaching and learning process. This research used quantitative methodology with correlational analysis. Subjects are 100 teachers. Result shows that thitung is more than ttabel. Therefore, H0 is not accepted and H1 is accepted so that there is positive correlation between emotional intelegence and teachers performance at MTs At Taqwa Tangerang.
The study was conducted to determine effect of ethnic identity on assertiveness of Sundanese students. The role of students who should be critical and responsive to various things, but less prominent in Sundanese students in consequence of existence of cultural rules require maintaining communication prefer to harbor personal opinions and feelings. The demands of role and acculturation occur on campus lead to high quality of ethnic identity negatively affecting assertive communication skills. The research uses correlational quantitative methods. The results showed the number of Sundanese students with a high level of ethnic identity tended to be more than the low level of ethnic identity. While the quality of assertive communication is high or low is not much different. Using the simple regression calculation method shows that ethnic identity has a positive effect on the assertiveness of Sundanese students.
