This study was conducted to improve the mastery of student concepts on calculus materials using Quantum Learning method, this research is motivated because the learning of calculus has not seen any mastery of concept implemented during learning. Therefore formulated problems in this research is how the implementation of learning calculus by using the method of Quantum Learning, and how to increase the mastery of concepts on learning calculus mathematics by applying the method of Quantum Learning. The purpose of this study is to determine the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who obtain learning Quantum Learning and students who obtain conventional learning. The type of research is a quasi-experiment with the design is Posttest-Only Design. The sample in this research is a student of 3rd semester of Muhammadiyah Metro University. The technique of data collecting using ability comprehension test of mathematical concept and hypothesis test using t-test. From the result of hypothesis test using t test that is tct = 4,136 and ttable = 2,035 which show at significant level α = 0,05 yield tcount ttable and states that H0 is rejected means ability of comprehension mathematical concept of a student who gets learning of Quantum Learning is higher than student Who acquired conventional learning.
The purpose of this study to describe the error and to know the cause of student error in solving trigonometric problems based on Newman's Theory and cognitive style. The type of this research is qualitative descriptive research conducted at SMAN 1 Sekampung Udik. Selection of research subjects using purposive sampling selected 4 research subjects with 2 subjects have a cognitive style reflective and 2 subjects have impulsive cognitive style. Data collection techniques used were tests and interviews, while the instruments used were: (1) cognitive style test or MFFT (Matching Familiar Figure Test), (2) trigonometric problem test, and (3) interview guides. The results of this study can be described as follows. ( 1) students who have a reflective cognitive style in solving trigonometric problems tend to make mistakes in the stage of transformation error and process skill error; and encoding error, (2) whereas students who have an impulsive cognitive style in solving trigonometric problems tend to make mistakes in the phase of comprehension error, transformation error, process skill error, and encoding error. (3) The cause of the errors of cognitive and relative impulsive cognitive students are the students can not understand the problem well, forget the formula, less thorough in solving problems, rush in solving problems, not used to write conclusions, and run out of time in solving problems
The aim of the research was to determine the effect of learning models on mathematics achievement viewed from the student creativity. The learning model compared were discovery, group investigation and conventional. The type of the research was a quasi-experimental research. The population was the students of Junior High Schoolin Surakarta city on academic year 2012/2013. The samples of this research were taken by using the stratified cluster random sampling technique. The samples consist of 281 students who were divided into 94 students in the first experiment class, 94 students in the second experiment class, and 93 students in the control class. The results of this research are as follows: (1) the discovery learning model results in better learning achievement than the group investigation and conventional learning model. The group investigation learning model results in an equal learning achievement to the conventional learning model, (2) the students having high level of creativity have better learning achievement than those having medium and low levels of creativity. The students having medium level of creativity have an equal learning achievement to those having low level of creativity, (3) on the discovery learning model, students having high creativity have better learning achievement than those having medium and low levels of creativity and students having medium level of creativity have an equal learning achievement to those having low creativity. On the group investigation model, students in each level of creativity have the same learning achievement, (4) the students who were tought with the discovery learning model have better learning achievement than those taught with the group investigation and conventional learning model in the category of having high level of creativity. The students who were tought group investigation and conventional model results in an equal learning achievement in the category of having high level of creativity. The students having medium level of creativity have an equal learning achievement to those having low level of creativity in each learning model.
The ability to evaluate learning is a basic skill that must be mastered by students as prospective teachers. Based on this, it is necessary a teaching materials that help students and lecturers during the lecture. Students can know and understand about learning evaluation. In addition, the existence of teaching materials can help students to improve students' skills in understanding the material. In order for students to learn independently and adapt to technology, e-learning is needed based on teaching materials where lecturers do not have to guide students one by one, but the students can also help each other with the help of internet. The research was conducted at Muhammadiyah University of Metro and the subject of the research was 6th semester students consisting of 2 classes. Class A as an experimental class whereas class B as control class. The development of e-learning-based teaching materials uses the main 4-D development model of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate or adapted into 4-P model, defining, designing, developing, and deploying. The results of this study indicate that: 1) Teaching materials based on e-learning can support lecturing evaluation of learning in mathematics education program. This can be seen from the percentage of student response questionnaires of 80% that fulfill the criteria is quite valid; 2) Teaching materials based on e-learning can optimize student learning outcomes. This can be shown in student learning outcomes that achieve optimal learning outcomes of 87.5%
