Big data search instruments, Google and Yandex and others, offer new research opportunities, statistically very impressive. The questions arise here as to what extent we can trust the statistical data obtained, what kinds of hypotheses can be verified through Google and Yandex searching. The authors try to experimentally verify the hypothesis relating to the word order in the attributive group of the kind healthy nourishing food vs nourishing healthy food using Google and Yandex and, in this way, test the explanatory potential of the big data sources. The choice of word order is related to the theory of classes which explains cognitive mechanisms that govern the order of adjectives in a noun group. The empirical results obtained via Google and Yandex help to verify this hypothesis and identify cognitive grounds for choosing the order of attributes. The authors claim that data search engines, particularly, Russian Yandex and Google corpora, can help identify linguistically and culturally relevant concepts
The paper investigates the possibility to employ the Google search system as an analogue of the corpus of texts for potential use in further cognitive research of a language. The purpose of the article is to elucidate the significance of statistical data available due to the use of different operators and filters of the search system in the study of cognitive mechanisms of representation of linguistic reality in speech. Experimental observations have been made to compare the results of competing queries in Google and Russian National Corpus based on the word order variability of binomial phrases. The results obtained showed that the volume and variety of language data justifies the employment of Google for these purposes. This leads to the conclusion that these data can be considered valid as linguistic material for further interpretation in cognitive language research
Аннотация. Целью работы является изучение изменения комбинаторики фразеологизированного предиката и изменения значения фразы в контексте. Автором проведён эксперимент на основе НКРЯ и поисковых систем Яндекс и Google, который позволил получить обширный эмпирический материал. В ходе эксперимента исследовалась возможность использования в речи фраз с изменённой комбинаторикой и анализировалась семантическая составляющая фразы. Проведённый анализ показал, что в русском языке изменение комбинаторики фразеологизированного глагольного предиката-достаточно частое явление, которое сопряжено с индивидуальным когнитивным пространством говорящего. Полученные данные пополняют систему знаний о взаимодействии синтаксиса, семантики и прагматики предикатов, детализации языковых возможностей изменённой комбинаторики фразеологизмов в контексте, выявлении черт алломорфизма в комбинаторном потенциале русского и английского языков. 1 Ключевые слова: комбинаторика фразы, когнитивное пространство, глагольные фразеологические выражения, лингвистический эксперимент, корпусные исследования.
