Access to information becomes an important means of achieving success in various aspects of life. Thus, it is considered the rights of every citizen without being impeded by physical or mental limitations. This study aims to analyze access to information that supports students with visual impairments (blind) in conducting learning activities at the university. This research was conducted at the Social and Political Sciences Faculty of Universitas Airlangga (Unair) Surabaya, involving 11 informants, three of whom are visually impaired students (blind) in the faculty. The results of this study indicate that according to three of the visually impaired informants the assistive technologies they used to support their learning processes, such as mobile phones, laptops, scanners, and recording devices, were provided independently. The technology is very helpful for them to obtain information validly and quickly, as well as to understand the contents of the information more easily and assist them to share the information with other colleagues. The supporting informants are 3 lecturers from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Universitas Airlangga who teach visually impaired students, 3 friends of the main informant, 1 university representative, and 1 faculty representative. This paper uses an interpretive paradigm, which aims to analyze a social reality and how that reality is formed. This research uses a qualitative type that seeks to understand social or human problems, based on the creation of a complete holistic picture that is formed with words, reports the views of informants in detail, and arranged in a natural setting.
Cataloging and classification is a major factor in the process of retrieval of information sources. Implementation of cataloging and classification requires reliable librarian competence. In this digital era, librarians are given many choices. Each librarian has strategy in carrying out classification activities, but still adhere to the principle of consistency and ease in the retrieval process. This study aims to provide an overview of the understanding and readiness of academic librarians in East Java state universities for classification tools in the digital era; as well as to know what classification tools are used by academic librarians of public universities in East Java in help their duties. The primary research data were obtained from interviews with 8 librarians in the classification section of East Java state university libraries, namely UNAIR, ITS, UNESA, UPN, UB, UM, UNEJ, and UTM. The method used descriptive qualitative approach. The results of the study show that most of the informants understand the existence of classification tools in the digital era. They know and implement these tools in their work. Most of the informants used the printed DDC as a classification tool in this era, even though they aware of online or digital classification tools. The printed DDC is believed to be reliable and trusted classification tool. Even so, there were informants who knew and understood the existence of a classification tool, but didn’t use it for reasons of inadequate supporting facilities. Most of the informants felt helped by the classification tools in online or digital form.
Saat ini perpustakaan umum, perpustakaan nasional, universitas, sekolah, dan khusus memastikan bahwa informasi dan keterampilan untuk menggunakan informasi tersedia untuk semua pemustaka dan menjadikan institusi bagian dari revolusi era digital. Perpustakaan menyediakan infrastruktur teknologi informasi dan komunikasi (TIK), membantu pemustaka mengembangkan kapasitas untuk menggunakan informasi secara efektif, dan melestarikan informasi untuk memastikan akses berkelanjutan bagi generasi mendatang. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan strategi Perpustakaan Universitas Airlangga dalam dalam mewujudkan Airlangga University Library Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), dengan metode studi literature, kajian ini mampu menampilkan konsep-konsep secara detail dan mampu membuat kerangka berfikir khususnya dalam hal mengatur dan memilih mana referensi yang relevan dengan kajian yang dibuat.
Kemudahan akses informasi membuat masyarakat dengan mudah memproduksi informasi, post truth era membuat kita leluasa untuk memproduksi, menggunakan, menyimpan informasi, sekalipun informasi tersebut adalah sebuah kebohongan dan jauh dari kata benar, baik itu informasi yang bersifat daily life hingga informasi yang disajikan untuk akademisi. Artikel ilmiah ini menggunakan menggunakan metode analisis kajian pustaka, dengan mengumpulkan berbagai artikel ilmiah, penelitian yang berkaitan dengan tema kajian yang akan dibahas. Penulis memiliki tujuan untuk menggambarkan lebih jauh strategi pustakawan dalam tantangan menghadapi meluasnya kualitas informasi di era Post truth, selain itu penulis juga ingin menggambarkan tantangan serta peluang bagi pustakawan di era post truth. Artikel ilmiah ini mengungkapkan bahwa keberadaan perpustakaan dan pustakawan dipost truth era masih dan lebih dibutuhkan. Pustakawan mampu menjadi “penjernih” di dalam “keruhnya” informasi, kesalahan dalam informasi akan memengaruhi seseorang dalam pengambilan keputusan. Pustakawan dan perpustakaan akan terus digunakan sebagai jembatan informasi yang mampu memberikan alternatif-alternatif dalam pemilihan informasi yang tepat dan akurat.
