Two statistically complete samples of 13 Fanaro †-Riley type II (FR II) radio galaxies (RGs) and 13 FR II quasars (QSRs) are compared in terms of their polarization properties. Previously, we have reported that the jet detection rate is consistent with the prediction of the uniÐed models, with more jets detected in QSRs than in RGs. We report here that there is no statistically signiÐcant di †erence between the distribution of depolarization asymmetries in the RGs and QSRs. We discuss the implication of this result in terms of BarthelÏs 1989 RG-QSR uniÐcation scheme.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
