The new lichen association, Verrucario viridulae-Staurotheletum hymenogoniae (Aspicilion contortae Roux 2009, Aspicilietalia calcareae Roux 2009, Verrucarietea nigrescentis Wirth 1980) is described here. It is formed on marl limestone pebbles in arid landscapes in the Northern Black Sea lowland. Forty-six species of lichens and ten lichenicolous fungi were observed and Staurothele hymenogonia, Verrucaria muralis s. lat., V. viridula are diagnostic for the association. The new association is a component of the Nord-Pontic calcicline pale fescue grasslands habitats (EUNIS). It occurs in protected areas "Yelanetsky Steppe" (Mykolayiv region), "Troitska balka" (Zaporizha region), the National Nature Park "Kam`yanska Sich" and the Regional Landscape Park "Gavrylovsky" (Kherson region).
The subject transformation of Ukrainian geographical science demonstrates the strengthening of the monistic approach, which considers the Earth’s envelope as an integral socio-natural geosphere, in which the natural environment and man with his economic and spiritual activity are inextricably linked. Accordingly, one of the main directions of modern methodological developments is the geographical sciences systematization according to their composition and their multilevel ordering on the basis of the unity and integrity of the common object of geographical research - the landscape envelope of the Earth. The article proposes the authors’ scheme of the modern system of geographical sciences, in which the structuring of geographical researches directions is carried out according to the following basic principles: a) the system of geographical sciences is developed not in the list of relevant subjects and disciplines, but in the main areas of geographical research; b) the theoretical and methodological core of the geographical sciences system should be the direction of general integrated geographical research; c) directions of geographical researches and corresponding subject areas and disciplines are organized according to the levels of the landscape envelope structural organization and divided into global (geospheric), regional (country studies, regional studies) and local (environmental and socio-natural activities); d) the proposed systematics does not directly take into account the traditional division of geographical sciences and disciplines into basic - auxiliary - servicing.
In 2021, for the first time in Ukraine, a project on creating and supporting a geo-information system for the oblast region was implemented—Geoinformation portal of the Kherson region. Conceptually, the project is based on an inclusive approach: the representation of the region as a complete spatial system through the use of methodological apparatus and tools of geographical research combined with practice-oriented and people-centric direction. This made it possible to comprehensively describe all traditional areas, as well as modern, actual directions of the spatial development of the region. The geo-information portal presents 11 thematic sections containing 58,502 objects, showing 309 indicators and 394 layers of data. The project is an example of successful collaboration between institutions of local government and civil society: the Public Organization Researchers of Ukraine Society, Kherson Regional State Administration, Kherson State University, and territorial communities of Kherson Region. It became the most powerful and successful initiative to support the regional and local development of the Kherson region on the eve of the war. Key characteristics that determine the uniqueness of the implemented project include: (1) generalization in a single register of fundamental scientific geospatial data and relevant information to ensure the daily needs and requests of regional administration and local self-government; (2) strengthening practice-oriented and human-centered accents in the proposed cartographic products through the presentation and visualization of individual ‘non-traditional’ indicators and layers of spatial data; (3) the possibility of using the information system of the portal as an effective decision-making tool both at the level of individual territorial communities and at the level of the region; (4) interactive nature, intuitive interface, which ensures accessibility and ease of use regardless of age characteristics and professional training of the user; (5) the possibility of building educational strategies for schooling and professional education in the region using the resources of the geo-information portal as a digital learning environment.
The article analyzes the possible individual aspects of the use of regression analysis in demographic research. The possibilities of analyzing the relationship between the parameters of the formation of the population and its constituent elements are shown. So, the highest correlation coefficient is demonstrated by the pair of signs population formation (changes) - total migration balance The regression method is widely used in natural and social sciences, including geography. The purpose of the presented work is the approbation of models of the spatial regression method for the analysis of features of demographic processes at the regional level. The research region was the Kherson region of Ukraine. It was established that the Kherson region has the following spatial trend: with increasing distance to the regional center, there is a decrease in population formation indicators. Which, the negative balance of migrations, as well as the balance of internal migrations, mortality is also increasing sharply. The conducted regression analysis made it possible to draw conclusions that confirm the postulates of the Core-Periphery concept. This concept, in the aspect of demographic processes, emphasizes changes in population formation indicators with increasing distance from the Core to the Periphery. The proposed approach can be used to determine changes in process parameters in both temporal and spatial aspects.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
