Kata kunci: COP, refrigeration system, refrigerant, R-32, R-290.Abstract: Indonesia government's policy to eliminate the uses of R-22 refrigerant in air conditioning cooling system will be enforced by 2020. This study will examine the results of using R-32 mixtures with R-290 hydrocarbon refrigerants to retrofit in domestic split type AC systems with R-32. The uses of R-32 mixture with hydrocarbon as retrofit of refrigerant is a very potential thing for R-32 retrofit in domestic split air conditioners without any part replacement of the system. This experiment uses split type domestic air conditioning with R-32 refrigerant, and the drop-in method is used to test a mixture of 70%: 30% by weight of R-32 blended with R-290 refrigerants. The analysis is carried out using EES software and the results are validated with the results of research on the refrigeration system of the reference journal. The results show the COP increases by 14 % and power usage decreases by 47% compared to R-32 refrigerants in the system, although in terms of cooling capacity decreases by 33%. However, with the advantages of electricity energy decreases at compressor, this refrigerant has a considerable potential to be developed.
