They reveal the absence of identity in energy distributions in the continua of the K-corona and photosphere. The quasi-symmetry of RCI distributions relative to the projection of the heliospheric current sheet in "the sky plane" excludes the contribution of the dust component. Reddening with distance over the entire corona at all positional angles is the first observational confirmation of theoretical calculations by Reginald et al. [8]. Therefore, the RCI can be considered as an indicator of the expansion of the corona. Different coronal structures have different RCI values. The existence of diffuse and structural components, correlation with the coronal structure, and bluing in the range <1.2-1.3 R are noted.
The 2D distribution of the relative color index for the corona of July 11, 1991 reveal the reddening effect for the whole corona. This is interpreted as the shift of the corona continuum to the red as compared with the photosphere spectrum and is explained by the outward bulk flow speed of the coronal electrons.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
