This study was aimed at investigating; (1) the pre-service teachers used the MobApps (WhatsApp, U-Dictionary, and Email) to participate in mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) viewed from the critical thinking ability in the teaching of writing skills and; (2) the effectiveness of the Mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) towards pre-service teachers’ writing skills in relation to critical thinking ability. This study was a mixed method using the concurrent embedded strategy. The researchers involve qualitative strategies and quantitative strategies. Both kinds of data are collected simultaneously. This study was conducted in the English language education departments of FPBS IKIP Mataram, Indonesia. 58 pre-service teachers were involved in this study. The qualitative data were attained from pre-service teachers attending the writing classes using observation sheets. Meanwhile, the quantitative data were gained from experimental design through a nonequivalent control-group design. The groups were evaluated by using a writing test and a critical thinking test. The results showed that the pre-service teachers conducted a discussion of what they have to write. The learning activities are done under several stages. The end of this is that the pre-service teachers are able to create a complete descriptive text. Besides, the use of the MALL model was more effective than non-mobile learning to improve pre-service teachers’ writing skills viewed from critical thinking skills.
This research was aimed in attempt to analyze and describe the EFL Teachers' Perception about Authentic Assessment. The EFL teachers at MA DI Putra Nurul Hakim were taken as subjects of this research. Descriptive research design with quantitative data was applied since the method of gathering the data was questionnaire with interview as the supporting method. In relation to the problem proposed, the current study found that the EFL teachers at MA DI Putra Nurul Hakim had positive perception about authentic assessment. It was proven that the EFL teachers had positive knowledge, point of view, belief, feeling, and behaviour towards authentic assessment.
This study is generally attempted to find the effect of Problem-Based Learning towards students’ critical thinking and speaking competence at SMA Muhammadiyah Mataram. This research applied experimental research using MANOVA. The population of this research was the students of SMA Muhammadiyah Mataram. The sample of the study was 29 students consisting of two classes. The results of the study show that there is a significant effect of Problem-Based Learning towards students‟ critical thinking and speaking. Research data found that the mean score of critical thinking was 74,50 and class control was 54,00; 0,05. While the mean for the speaking of the experimental class was 75.83 and control class was 60,45; 0,05. It can be concluded that the use of Problem Based Learning has a positive effect on students‟ critical thinking and speaking competence and has correlation both of them at the SMA Muhammadiyah Mataram.
Pelaksanaan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk melatih guru-guru SMP Negeri 1 Praya Barat dalam pemanfaatan Google Classroom sebegai media alternatif dimasa pandemi Covid 19. Mitra dalam kegiatan ini adalah guru-guru SMP Negeri 1 Praya Barat. metode pelaksanaan menggunakan transfer of knowledge melalui workshop dan sosialiasi. Hasil dari kegitan ini yaitu 1) guru SMPN 1 Praya Barat dapat memahami tentang pemanfaatan google classroom degan indikator bahwa guru dapat membuat ruang kelas pembelajaran untuk semua mata pelajaran melalui daring, 2) guru SMPN 1 Praya Barat guru dapat memhami mafaat bermacam fungsi dari fitur pada google classroom. Guru-guru telah mampu mengoprasikan e learning google classroom sebagai media alternatif akan tetapi masih perlu dilakukan pendampingan sampai guru benar-benar memahami dan menggunakannya sebagai media di masa pandemi covid 19.
The aim of the present study is to explore the effect of using Bingo Games on students' vocabulary and reading comprehension. The subjects of the study were tenth-grade students of SMAN 8 Mataram. The researchers used experimental design by applying random sampling technique. The researchers used two group classes, namely X MIA 1 as experimental and X MIA II as control class. In collecting the data, vocabulary and reading test were used as an instrument. The data was analyzed used descriptive and inferential statistics. The result revealed that there were significant improvement on the students' posttest. It proves that Bingo games was one of alternative strategy that can be applying in teaching vocabulary and reading comprehension.
