[Purpose] In this study, we examined the effects of virtual reality dance exercise
on the balance, activities of daily living and depressive disorder status of Parkinson’s
disease patients. [Subjects] Twenty patients were assigned either the experimental group (n
= 10) or the control group (n = 10). All participants received 30 minutes of
neurodevelopment treatment and 15 minutes of functional electrical stimulation 5 times per
week for 6 weeks. The experimental group additionally performed 30 minutes of dance
exercise. Balance, activities of daily living, and depressive disorder status were assessed
before and after the 6-week treatment period using the Berg balance scale, the Modified
Barthel Index, and the Beck Depression Inventory. The paired t-test was used to detect
differences before and after treatment, and the independent t-test was used to detect
differences between the treatment groups. [Results] The values for balance, activities of
daily living, and depressive disorder status significantly differed between before and after
treatment in the experimental group, and significantly differed between the experimental
group and control group. [Conclusion] Virtual reality dance exercise has a positive effect
on balance, activities of daily living, and depressive disorder status of Parkinson’s
disease patients.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of exercising program utilizing proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation integration pattern (PIP), which is effective in improvement of the physical function, on the fall efficacy and gait ability of the elders who experienced injuries from falls. Also, this study aims to investigate he applicability of exercise program as methods for fall reoccurrence prevention and physical functions enhancement. The subjects of the study were 30 elders in the local community with experience of injuries from falls. The period of the study was 4 weeks with 12 exercise sessions. The subjects were randomly allocated to 2 groups where 15 elders were allocated to PIP and the rest 15 elders were allocated to general exercise (GE) group. Fall efficacy scale (FES) and GAITRite were used for the measurements in this study. Paired t-test was used to analyze the differences within the group while independent t-test was used to analyze the difference between two groups. In the comparison of measurements before and after exercise program, FES, velocity, cadence, and stride length were shown to be significantly increased in both PIP group and GE group. Also, in the comparison between two groups after the exercise program, the measurements of FES, cadence, stride length, and step length in PIP group were shown to be significantly increased compared to the GE group. Therefore, the PNF combined pattern is judged to be applicable to as methods for fall reoccurrence prevention and physical functions enhancement of the elders with experience of being fallen.
The primary factors of the LOS(Line-of-Sight) analysis process are terrain height, camera capacity, and canopy cover. The canopy cover rate differs depending on the changing season, and its value is influenced by the tree density, tree height, and etc. This study generated the canopy cover value based on relationship between NDVI(Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) and DMT(Density Measure % of Tree/Canopy Cover), which is a digital map attribute, and then performed the LOS analysis on six station of test sites. As results, It was found that NDVI and DMT are correlated with each other through the experiments. Based on this finding, new DMT map can be generated using NDVI. Also, There is a difference between the result of visibility analysis using the present DMT and one using a new DMT. Especially, the spatial distributions of the detected visible areas are significantly different between the two visibility analysis results.
PURPOSE: Forward head posture (FHP) is one of the most common postural problems among white-collar workers who perform highly repetitive tasks in the same position. The aim of this study was to research the effects of thoracic and lumbar support fixtures on forward head posture (FHP) during visual display terminal (VDT) work. METHODS: The subjects were 36 healthy male students with no problems in their medical history or respiratory systems. The subjects were randomly assigned to three groups: control group (n=12), thoracic support fixtures (n=12), and lumbar support fixtures (n=12). We conducted a text typing task of the same content for 20 minutes, and evaluated the angles, including the craniovertebra angle (CVA), craniorotation angle (CRA) with photogrammetry. RESULTS: The thoracic and lumbar support fixture groups showed a statistically significant difference at the CVA and CRA to the control group (p<.
