ResumenActualmente en México la violencia se ha incrementado, específicamente en los estados del norte, de igual manera otros índices de crimen y violencia no asociada al crimen organizado han aumentado. Existen pocos registros del impacto de estos niveles en la población general; los estudios de exposición en jóvenes se han enfocado en el bullying y la violencia de pareja, por lo que hay poca información sobre violencia en la comunidad en la población adolescente. Las condiciones actuales del contexto adolescente como la exposición a la violencia y el aumento de los niveles delictivos y la inseguridad (Pansters y Castillo, 2007; Hope, 2012) hacen necesario un instrumento para conocer este fenómeno , ya que la información sobre la percepción (y la exposición) de la violencia y la inseguridad en el país ha aumentado en últimas fechas y es importante señalar que los niveles se han mantenido en un rango elevado, pero es poco lo que se conoce acerca de la población joven. El objetivo fue obtener la validez y confiabilidad del Cuestionario de Exposición a la Inseguridad y la Violencia para adolescentes (CEIVA). El cuestionario se aplicó a 573 alumnos de secundaria y bachillerato (13-19 años; x= 14.89; DE= 1.5; 56% secundaria; 50.08% hombres) en la ciudad de México. Se realizó un análisis factorial forzado a 6 factores (KMO=.849; p=.001; 10 iteraciones), basado en los hallazgos previos de un estudio cualitativo (Gómez & Lucio, 2013, en prensa), este modelo explicó un 39% de la varianza; que nos indica que la violencia es un fenómeno multidimensional. Para obtener la confiabilidad se utilizó un alfa de Cronbach obteniéndose un valor total de .92.
