Two field experiments were carried out in Agricultural Research and Experimental Station, Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Giza, Egypt (2019 and2020) to study the response of Egyptian cotton cultivars (Giza 92, Giza 94 and Giza 95) growth, yield and fiber properties to foliar zinc (Zn) rates (0, 100 and 200 ppm) and nitrogen (N) fertilizers sources; urea (U), ammonium nitrate (AN) and ammonium sulfate (AS). Cultivars, N sources and foliar Zn led to a significant effect on plant height, number of sympodial branches plant -1 , total and open bolls plant -1 , boll weight, seed index, seed cotton yield plant -1 , seed cotton yield fed -1 , fiber strength, and fineness. While, cultivars had a significant effect on the position of the 1 st sympodial node, lint%, fiber length and uniformity index. Giza 95 was a superior in above parameter except seed index and fiber quality. While, Giza 92 was a superior in fiber quality. Significant of two and three interactions between studied factors existed on most of studied traits. Whereas, the highest values were obtained from plots treated with AS with foliar Zn at 200 ppm in most cases. Significant relationships were found between total boll and percentage of open boll plant -1 ; R 2 = 0.76 (Giza 92), 0.89 (Giza 94) and 0.91 (Giza 95). Also, seed cotton yield fed.-1 with open bolls plant -1 , boll weight and lint% (R 2 = 0.862, 0.632 and 0.619, respectively). In such experimental soil conditions ammonium sulfate and foliar Zn at 200 ppm could be recommended to improve the cotton properties.

Calcium (Ca 2+ ) is one of the essential elements for plants and the changes in soil properties reduce its availability for plants as a result of forming insoluble compounds. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of foliar application of Nano-Ca (N-Ca) combined with potassium humate (K-H) on improving the cotton growth parameters, yield components and fiber quality. Two split-plot design field experiments (2019 and 2020) in a randomized complete block design arrangement with four replicates were laid out. Three cotton cultivars (Giza 92, 94 and 95) and six fertilizers treatments (control; traditional-CaO (T-Ca); Nano-CaO (N-Ca); K-H; T-Ca+K-H; and N-Ca+K-H) were applied. The foliar spray was performed four times (30 days after sowing, at squaring, beginning of flowering and 15 days later). Results indicated the superiority of Giza 95 was in the yield while Giza 92 and 94 cotton cultivars were in the quality of fiber. Individual foliar applications of N-Ca and K-H had a significant increase in plant height, yield components (sympodial branches, total and open bolls, boll weight, seed index, lint% and seed cotton yield) and fiber quality (fiber length, uniformity index, fiber strength, fiber fineness and reflectance (Rd %)) and decrease yellowness (+b) compared with the control. Foliar N-Ca was more efficient as fertilizer than T-Ca. N-Ca combined with K-H achieved a higher increase of most previous traits than T-Ca with K-H. Application of N-Ca combined with K-H could be recommended to improve cotton production and fiber quality.

Field experiments were carried out in two successive seasons of 2019 and 2020, Kafr El Sheikh Governorate, Egypt, to find out the effect of Zinc (Zn) application splits and rates without or with humic acid (HA) on rice growth, grain yield and quality. The experiments were laid out in a split-plot based on Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. Treatments included two application splits were applied in main plots and nine application rates; control (T1), 100% (20 kg ZnSO4.7H2O fed. -1 ) soil application traditional recommended fertilizer dose (RFD) (T2), foliar Zn application rates of 12.5% (T3), 25% (T4) and 50% (T5 ) from RFD, HA(T6), foliar Zn application rates of 12.5% (T7), 25% (T8) and 50% (T9) from RFD+HA were applied in sub-plots. Results indicated that, Zn application at three splits gave higher rice growth characters, yield components and grain quality than two splits. By increase zinc application rates without or with HA had a significant increase (P <0.05) in growth characters; the highest increase mean values of plant height (7.8%) and number of tillers m -2 (16.5%) were at 25% RFD+HA while, LAI (22.3%) and chlorophyll content (15.8%) were at 50% RFD+HA compared with control treatment. The highest panicle length (19.6 cm), panicle weight (2.29 g), number of filled grains panicle -1 (104.9), grain yield (4.12 t fed .-1 ), harvest index (47.9%), elongation percentage (32.6%) and head rice percentage (69.4%) recorded at Zn 50% RFD+HA as an average of both seasons.
