Although many efforts have been made on building shadow detection from aerial images, little research on simultaneous shadows detection on both building roofs and grounds has been presented. Hence, this paper proposes a new method for simultaneous shadow detection on ghost image. In the proposed method, a corner point on shadow boundary is selected and its 3D approximate coordinate is calculated through photogrammetric collinear equation on the basis of assumption of average elevation within the aerial image. The 3D coordinates of the shadow corner point on shadow boundary is used to calculate the solar zenith angle and the solar altitude angle. The shadow areas on the ground, at the moment of aerial photograph shooting are determined by the solar zenith angle and the solar altitude angle with the prior information of the digital building model (DBM). Using the relationship between the shadows of each building and the height difference of buildings, whether there exists a shadow on the building roof is determined, and the shadow area on the building roof on the ghost image is detected on the basis of the DBM. High-resolution aerial images located in the City of Denver, Colorado, USA are used to verify the proposed method. The experimental results demonstrate that the shadows of the 120 buildings in the study area are completely detected, and the success rate is 15% higher than the traditional shadow detection method based on shadow features. Especially, when the shadows occur on the ground and on the buildings roofs, the successful rate of shadow detection can be improved by 9.42% and 33.33% respectively.
ABSTRACT:Buffer analysis is a common tool of spatial analysis, which deals with the problem of proximity in GIS. Buffer analysis researches the relationship between the center object and other objects around a certain distance. Buffer analysis can make the complicated problem be more scientifically and visually, and provide valuable information for users. Over the past decades, people have done a lot of researches on buffer analysis. Along with the constantly improvement of spatial analysis accuracy needed by people, people hope that the results of spatial analysis can be more exactly express the actual situation. Due to the influence of some certain factors, the impact scope and contact range of a geographic elements on the surrounding objects are uncertain. As all we know, each object has its own characteristics and changing rules in the nature. They are both independent and relative to each other. However, almost all the generational algorithms of existing buffer analysis are based on fixed buffer distance, which do not consider the co-location relationship among instances. Consequently, it is a waste of resource to retrieve the useless information, and useful information is ignored.
Even though geomatique is so developed nowadays, the integration of spatial data in vector and raster formats is still a very tricky problem in geographic information system environment. And there is still not a proper way to solve the problem. This article proposes a method to interpret vector data and raster data. In this paper, we saved the image data and building vector data of Guilin University of Technology to Oracle database. Then we use ADO interface to connect database to Visual C++ and convert row and column numbers of raster data and X Y of vector data to Morton code in Visual C++ environment. This method stores vector and raster data to Oracle Database and uses Morton code instead of row and column and X Y to mark the position information of vector and raster data. Using Morton code to mark geographic information enables storage of data make full use of storage space, simultaneous analysis of vector and raster data more efficient and visualization of vector and raster more intuitive. This method is very helpful for some situations that need to analyse or display vector data and raster data at the same time.
ABSTRACT:In order to expand the field of view to obtain more data and information when doing research on remote sensing image, workers always need to mosaicking images together. However, the image after mosaic always has the large color differences and produces the gap line. This paper based on the graduation algorithm of tarigonometric function proposed a new algorithm of Two Quarter-rounds Curves (TQC). The paper uses the Gaussian filter to solve the program about the image color noise and the gap line. The paper used one of Greenland compiled data acquired in 1963 from Declassified Intelligence Photography Project (DISP) by ARGON KH-5 satellite, and used the photography of North Gulf, China, by Landsat satellite to experiment. The experimental results show that the proposed method has improved the accuracy of the results in two parts: on the one hand, for the large color differences remote sensing image will become more balanced. On the other hands, the remote sensing image will achieve more smooth transition.
Rational polynomial coefficients in a rational function model (<small>RFM</small>) have high correlation and redundancy, especially in high-order <small>RFMs</small>, which results in ill-posed problems of the normal equation. For this reason, this article presents an optimal regularization method with the L-curve for solving rational polynomial coefficients. This method estimates the rational polynomial coefficients of an <small>RFM</small> using the L-curve and finds the optimal regularization parameter with the minimum mean square error, then solves the parameters of the <small>RFM</small> by the Tikhonov method based on the optimal regularization parameter. The proposed method is validated in both terrain-dependent and terrain-independent cases using Gaofen-1 and aerial images, respectively, and compared with the least-squares method, L-curve method, and generalized cross-validation method. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can solve the <small> RFM</small> parameters effectively, and their accuracy is increased by more than 85% on average relative to the other methods.
