Palavras-Chave: alimentos alternativos, aves caipiras, semiárido brasileiro.ABSTRACT -The cultivation of sunflower for the food industry or biofuel refineries, available in several Brazilian regions large amounts of sunflower high oil meal and sunflower meal for feeding of broilers. In order to evaluate the inclusion of sunflower meal in diets for growing label rouge chickens in equatorial environment (Brazilian semiarid region), developed this study with 280 birds were distributed in a completely randomized design with four levels the rest from protein replacement of soybean meal by protein sunflower meal (0, 15, 30 and 45%), 7 replicates and 10 poultry per experimental unit. The poultry and feed were weighed weekly throughout the experimental period (from 1 to 86 days) to obtain the feed intake, weight gain and feed conversion ratio. With the inclusion of sunflower meal, no significant differences were observed for feed intake, the weight gain decreased linearly (y = 1.69850 -0.05868 x, R2 = 0.86) and the feed conversion ratio as increased linearly (y = 4.21226 -0.22562 x, R2 = 0.76). Thus, the protein of soybean meal can be replaced by level of 15% sunflower meal protein without compromising the performance Label Rouge poultry in equatorial environment. Keywords: alternative foods, brazilian semiarid, free range poultry.
