The results of the Riskesdas 2018 state that 93% of children in the age range of 5-6 years get cavities. This can affect the nutritional status of children because cavities make children refuse to eat. The cause of Indonesian child cavities can be triggered by various things related to the dental caries preventive behavior. The purpose of this study is to determine the determinants of dental caries preventive behavior in school-aged children. This study was an observational study with a cross-sectional analytic design to see the influence of the habit of brushing teeth, cariogenic food eating habits, the habit of changing toothbrush regularly, routine dental checkup to dental caries in elementary school students. The results of the bivariate analysis revealed that variable habit of brushing teeth with dental caries had an OR of 1.3, variable of how to brush teeth with dental caries had an OR of 1.5, the variable cariogenic food eating habits with dental caries had an OR of 1.2 and variable of cleanliness teeth and mouth with dental caries has an OR of 1.7. There is no significant relationship between the variables studied with dental caries where the value of p> 0.05. Based on the results of these studies it is recommended that information and education be provided to elementary school students regarding the correct habits and ways of brushing their teeth and the dangers of eating cariogenic foods.
AbstrakKesehatan gigi dan mulut anak pada umumnya ditemukan dengan kondisi yang buruk dengan adanya plak serta deposit-deposit lainnya pada permukaan gigi. Perilaku yang cenderung mengabaikan kebersihan gigi dan mulut umumnya dilandasi kurangnya pengetahuan tentang kesehatan gigi dan mulut serta pemeliharaannya. Intervensi siswa sekolah dilakukan dengan tujuan agar pembelajaran tentang kebersihan dan kesehatan gigi bisa dilaksanakan sedini mungkin untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa tentang pentingnya menjaga kesehatan, khususnya kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Komponen guru merupakan promotor terbaik dalam kegiatan pendidikan sebab mereka akrab dengan metode mendidik dan memotivasi siswa sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran guru dalam upaya promosi kesehatan gigi dan mulut pada siswa di sekolah.Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Informan dalam penelitian ini dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Informan utama dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 3 orang, yang terdiri dari guru Pembina UKS/UKGS, sedangkan informan triangulasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 2 orang, yang terdiri dari wakil kepala sekolah dan petugas pembina UKS/UKGS dari Puskesmas.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan UKGS, sebagai wadah kegiatan promosi kesehatan gigi dan mulut siswa di sekolah, direkomendasikan untuk perlu diadakan pelatihan rutin kepada para guru untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan sikapnya sehingga dapat memotivasi guru untuk aktif berinisiatif mengembangkan berbagai kegiatan yang berkaitan dengan promosi kesehatan gigi dan mulut di sekolah. Background: Primary school-aged children are at risk of having health problems. One of the health problems that can cause disruption of growth and development is obesity. School is one of the parties who play an important role in providing health education for children which aims to improve healthy living habits of children. The role of school primarily teacher was very important to prevent children obesity. The purpose of this study was to identify the role of teachers in health promotion activities in elementary schools for prevent obesity Method: This study was conducted using descriptive analytical design with cross sectional approach, complemented with qualitative data. The population in this study were teachers in elementary schools who appointed as health school teachers in the working area of Kedungmundu Health Center, Semarang City. Sample of this study was selected purposively by the criteria of active and inactive school health programs. The total sample was 14 teachers for each group, therefore totally 28 teachers involved in this study. Data was collected using face to face interview with trained enumerator and participants signed informed consent before interviewed. Results: level of Knowledge and attitudes of teachers about health promotion schools for preventing student’s obesity were higher between active and non-active school health program. Teacher's age and education were significantly associated with active school programs with p value 0.039 and 0.040 respectively. Teachers from active school health programs were younger (<30 years old) and have higher education (bachelor) than those who are not active school. Teachers from active school health programs are more initiative to run activities which support nutritional behavior such as provision healthy canteens and physical activities outside the class course rather than only waiting for activities from the health center.
Background : the most common oral health problem experienced by school-age children is dental caries. The cause of oral problems, one of which is the lack of knowledge of the importance of maintaining oral health. Good knowledge of oral health can be pursued through educational activities, such as counseling using the media, including electronic media in the form of the gigi.id application. Aim : examined the differences in the effectiveness of counseling with the gigi.id application and video playback on the oral health knowledge of elementary school students. Method :this type of research is a quasi-experimental with a cross sectional approach. The normality test of the data was carried out using Kolmogorov-Smirnov and then analyzed using Pair T-test. The effectiveness between media is compared using One Way Anova. The test was continued using the Independent T-test to determine the difference in effectiveness between pairs of extension methods.Result : there was a significant difference with p0.05 in counseling using the gigi.id application media and using lectures. The results of the different test on video playback media did not show a significant difference. The results of the effectiveness test showed that there was a significant difference between methods with p0.05, which was 0.000.The test of differences in effectiveness between pairs of counseling methods, showed a significant difference with p0.05 in counseling couples with video playback and the application of gigi.id, as well as counseling of the lecture method and application of gigi.id.Conclusion : counseling using the gigi.id application is more effective than video playback in increasing students' dental and oral health knowledge
In matters of dental and oral hygiene in children with special needs parents needed that they need depends on him. Parental knowledge is important to support oral and dental hygiene. The purpose of this study was to study the level of parental knowledge about dental and mouth maintenance with the dental and oral hygiene status of children with special needs in Wiradesa SDLB Negeri Pekalongan Regency. This type of research is quantitative descriptive, with cross sectional research methods. The population is 195 students. With a purposive sampling technique, with 48 respondents in grades 4 and 5, the measuring instruments in this study were the questionnaire and the examination sheet. Data obtained in the form of a cross tabulation table. Research carried out on 7 February 2020. The results showed that the average parent in Wiradesa SDLB had a medium level of knowledge and moderate OHI-S scores for children with a medium criterion. The conclusion obtained is about the knowledge of parents with greater oral and dental hygiene status caused by lack of parents' knowledge or information about how to care for dental and oral hygiene in children.
