Background: Fever is one of the common signs that indicate the changes in the body. Generally, parents will do some aggressive actions in dealing with febrile children at home, especially in the use of antipyretic drugs that are not required by the body. The aim of this study is to describe the effect of health education on knowledge, attitude, and action of parents in managing fever of children in Pariaman’s General Hospital. The results of this research can be considered as one of the interventions in the treatment of children in hospital.Methods: The study design is a quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group approach. Samples are parents who have children with fever sign that were treated in Pariaman’s General Hospital, West Sumatera, Indonesia. Samples were taken by a purposive sampling technique that is in accordance with the criteria set by the researchers. The samples were divided into two groups: the intervention and control groups. Health education about fever was given into intervention groups. In the control groups they received standard care from hospital. The data was collected by questionnaire, that consist of questions about knowledge, attitude an action of parent toward fever in their children. The data statistical was analyzed with independent t test.Results: There are significant differences on knowledge score (p value: 0.009), attitude (p value: 0:03) and action (p value: 0002) of parents between the intervention group and the control group.Conclusions: Therefore, it is expected that health workers and nurses can provide education / health education to parents about fever management in children.
Bullying is a phenomenon that is common and universal problems in school- ABSTRAKBullying merupakan fenomena yang umum dan masalah yang universal pada anak usia sekolah. Bullying dapat menimbulkan efek yang serius/ negatif terhadap kesehatan mental dan kesejahteraan anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi prevalensi perilaku bullying pada siswa SMP di Kota Padang. Desain penelitian adalah deskriptif analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional study. Sampel adalah siswa SMP Negeri 31 Padang, SMP 28 Padang, SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Padang dan SMP Kartika 1-7 Padang dengan jumlah sampel 340 orang, sampel diambil dengan teknik simple random sampling. Alat pengumpulan data adalah kuesioner yang terdiri atas pertanyaan tentang data umum anak dan kuesioner perilaku bullying. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji Mann Whitney dan Kruskall Wallis. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perilaku bullying yang dilakukan siswa hampir sebagian adalah bullying verbal, diikuti dengan bullying fisik dan terakhir bullying sosial. Terdapat perbedaan antara perilaku bullying dengan jenis kelamin dan sosial ekonomi. Diharapkan dikembangkan suatu penelitian yang bertujuan untuk melakukan pencegahan terhadap perilaku bullying dengan segera dan intervensi khusus di fokuskan pada anak dengan status sosial ekonomi rendah.
The Reaction of Anxiety is common in children during hospitalization and can affect the health status of children, adaptation and development problem. Family involvement is one of the intervention to decrease children anxiety to hospitalization. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of family involvement intervention to children who experience the anxiety due to the hospitalization in child ward dr Rasyidin Padang. The study design is quasi-experiment, with pre-test post-test design approach without control group. The study was conducted In January until June, 2016. The sample of this study are 12 children who undergo hospitalization in child ward. Family involvement is given as intervention and it consists of 2 section. Data were collected using a questionnaire about anxiety level of children before and after intervention. Data were analyzed with using paired t-test. The results showed that the differences scores of anxiety level of children before and after family involvement intervention (p value: 0,002). Family involvement intervention can be considered as one intervention to children who experinces hosppitalization stress.
INTRODUCTIONBreast cancer is one of the health problems in Indonesia and the World. 1 In the latest few years, there is an increasing in the incidence of breast cancer and is the leading cause of death among women in developing countries.2-5 The incidence of breast cancer reached 17 million people (11.9%) of the total population. 4 The data from Indonesian health survey showed that breast cancer is still the cause of high morbidity and mortality in women on 2012. Meanwhile, the data from hospital information system (SIRS) 2012, Breast cancer is the most common cancer type in all hospitals in Indonesia (16.85%), followed by cervical cancer (11.78%). In West Sumatra, incidence rate of breast cancer is about 1.7% higher than the national average (1.4%). ABSTRACTBackground: Breast self-examination (BSE) is one of the interventions to detect the breast cancer earlier. Nowadays, BSE didn't known by the many adolescent and young women, so that it is needed to do promotive effort to increase their knowledge about BSE. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of health promotion about breast self-examination for Student's knowledge at the first senior high school of Enam Lingkung Padang Pariaman. Methods: The research design was pre experimental with one-group pre-posttest design approach and was conducted on July 2014. The samples were students in tenth and eleventh class, which was taken by simple random sampling technique and the number of samples, were 75 people. Results: The survey results revealed an average score of knowledge before the intervention was (59.33) with a standard deviation (12.284), and average knowledge score after the intervention was (88.40) with standard deviation (7.220). The difference of the average scores of knowledge before and after the intervention was (29.067). The statistic test indicated that there was a difference of average score of knowledge before and after intervention with p value was (0.000). Conclusions: It can be expected for health professional to increase prevention efforts of breast cancer through health promotion about BSE in the school and community.
