This study aims to determine distribution of fish resources in Indonesian FMA 715 through tracking hydroacoustic method and CTD profiling at stations within regular distances. The results showed that the estimated size of pelagic fish was dominated by small size fish groups. Small pelagic fish were detected at the size ranged between 12-14 cm and large pelagic fish was dominated by the size of 28-31cm. The density of small pelagic fish decreases with depth with average factor of 0.4, while the large pelagic fish with average factor of 1.7. An indicated upwelling incidence was likely occurred in the eastern part of Mollucas sea region, which were characterized by the low temperature, high salinity and high chlorophyll concentrations. Large pelagic fish were more occasionally found in locations with relatively higher temperature, DO characteristics and lower salinity compared with small pelagic fish. Information on the distribution pattern of pelagic fish is expected to be used as a reference for capture fishermen and inputs in formulating the policy the sustainable fisheries management.
The increasing exploitation and fishing of the orange mud crab (Scylla olivacea) are threats against the sustainability of the crab resources. Therefore, it is critical to carry out a scientific study that can serve as the basis of the fisheries management. This study was carried out from March to November 2019 several crab landing sites in Aru Islands (Dobo). It employed survey and monthly data collection methods, assisted by an enumerator. The results revealed that the capace width orange mud crab was of 110–185 mm in size where 135 mm was the dominant size and 137.8 mm was the capace width at first capture (CWc). Its growth rate (K) was 0.59 per year and its asymptotic capace width was 191.5 mm. The recruitment of the species occurred all year long, peaking in February at 18.53%. Its fishing mortality (F) was 0.74 per year, while its natural mortality (M) was 0.77 per year. The exploitation rate (E) of the orange mud crab was 0.49% (moderate state). To ensure the sustainability of the crab resource in Aru Islands, people should be advised to maintain the sustainability of the crab habitats, i.e. the mangrove forests, and not to capture the orange mud crabs below 120 mm in size.
ABSTRACTSeram sea, Mollucas sea and Tomini bay have fisiohidrographic function as spawning area, nursery area and fishing ground of various fish. Studying the larvae in this region is very useful for the implementation of the management and sustainable use. Interest in the study are the larvae; abundance, composition and distribution of economically important fish larvae. Acquisition of data exploration survey conducted by sampling using Bongo net and KR Baruna Jaya VII rides on the stations, which determined by "Cluster stratified random sampling". The result showed the average abundance of eggs and larvae are 4.041 ind/10 3 m 3 in Seram Sea, 1.978 ind/10 3 m 3 in the Tomini Bay and 861 ind./10 3 m 3 in Mollucas Sea. In the Fishery Management Area (FMA) 715 have 119 familia of fish larvae. The Composition of economically fish larvae, in the Seram Sea include 19 % Carangidae, 8 % Scombridae, 8 % Labridae, 4 % Serranidae and 4 % Lutjanidae. Mollucas sea covers 17 % Carangidae, 12 % Labridae, 7 % Mullidae, 6 % Clupeidae, 4 % Scombridae and 4 % Lutjanidae. Tomini bay include 16 % Labridae, 12 % Carangidae, 5 % Scombridae, 4 % Serranidae and 4 % Clupeidae and others less economically fish larva. Economical fish larvae in FMA 715 which have broad habitat dis...

The small pelagic resources in the waters of Kendari (FMA 714) that are dominant are mackerel scad (Decapterus macarellus) and Indian mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta). Fishing in these waters uses a mini purse seine, with the production of 2 species of fish has reached 38.2% of the total allowed catch FMA 714. Because of intensive use, management needed to preserve resources. The purpose of this study is to determine the decent size based on a comparison of length of the first capture (Lc) and the length of first mature (Lm), and prediction of spawning season. Data collection was conducted by researchers and assisted by enumerators monthly. The results showed that the size of the mackerel scad in between 17.5 - 30.5 cm FL (n = 3207 tails). The size of the Indian mackerel found between 18.5 - 26.5 cm FL (n = 2556). The length at first captured of both species was larger than the size at first matured (Lm> Lc) so that the decent size is 23 cm FL for mackerel scad and 22 cm FL for Indian mackerel. The prediction of the spawning season in May-August can be the basis for closing the area during the spawning season. Keywords: : mackerel scad, Indian mackerel, mini purse seine, decent size, FMA 714
