Más de 30 años de experiencia docente e investigativa sobre diferentes materias periodísticas y de comunicación. Investigador auspiciado por el programa Prometeo, en convenio Senescyt-CIESPAL en el periodo diciembre 2013 -julio 2014.
Este trabajo nace de la preocupación de los integrantes del proyecto, por la no presencia de indígenas y afrodescendientes en los telediarios de la televisión ecuatoriana, así como por la percepción que tienen los representantes de estas razas por los estereotipos que les atribuyen, especialmente, en los programas cómicos. Todo esto, pese a que la Ley Orgánica de Comunicación prohíbe la discriminación, además es inclusiva y promueve la multiculturalidad y la plurinacionalidad en todos los niveles. La metodología utilizada para esta investigación fue el Análisis Crítico del Discurso de la Discriminación Percibida, basada en la taxonomía elaborada por el científico australiano David Mellor. Para ello, se entrevistó (con un cuestionario de preguntas abiertas) a una muestra no probabilística por conveniencia conformada por personas afrodescendientes e indígenas, de la ciudad de Guayaquil, Ecuador.
