Abstract. The article analyzes the conventional and new methods and control systems for electrode wire feeding in the arc welding and surfacing equipment. Special attention is paid to the feed rate control (stabilization) systems. The major part of the paper considers pulsed and oscillatory feed systems. They allow obtaining a number of technological effects that significantly improve the quality of the welded joint and expand the scope of application of the mechanized equipment, including the spheres of manufacture and repair in shipbuilding and ocean engineering. It is shown that advanced technical means allow solving virtually any technical problem related to control of the electrode metal transfer. Keywords: arc welding; mechanized process; feed system; improvement; development; pulsed control algorithm.
