Abstract: During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesia's trade transactions in the fisheries sector decreased by 3.62%. This data is one of the reasons why this community service activity is carried out. The purpose of the activity is to help UMKM as partners to overcome the problems faced in running a catfish breeding business. The stages of the activity are carried out through three stages, namely (a) implementation of catfish hatchery activities consisting of pond preparation, broodstock preparation, spawning process and seed maintenance; (b) Manufacture/procurement of supporting facilities (natural feed cultivation and drilling wells); and (c) business bookkeeping training and product marketing through online media. The results of the activity showed that there was a 100% increase in soft skills and hard skills in partners in the form of knowledge and practice of catfish spawning and seed maintenance as evidenced by the high percentage of live seeds (above 80%) and the ability to cultivate natural food (silk worms). In the management aspect, partners really understand the importance of bookkeeping their business and start their business bookkeeping and online seed marketing efforts.
This study aims to determine fish's diversity, abundance, and dominance in Ulak Lia Lake, Sekayu District. This research was conducted at Lake Ulak Lia, Sekayu District, Musi Banyuasin Regency, from February to March 2021. The fish sampling method was performed by direct catching at three predetermined observation stations using nets. Netting was carried out for 12 hours, taking catches with traps that have been installed in the morning from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., depending on conditions or weather. Sampling was marked using a bamboo buffer and the help of the Global Positioning System (GPS). The results showed that the Diversity Index ranged from 1.85 to 1.91 indicating low diversity. The fish abundance index ranged from 30.16 to 36.87 indicating low fish abundance. Where the Dominance Index 0.71-0.72 shows a moderate dominance index. Meanwhile, the dominant fish in Ulak Lia Lake is the Sapil fish (Helostoma temminckii).
Catfish (Mytus nemurus) is a local fish with high commercial value and used as a food raw material for the traditional food in South Sumatra called pindang. The training aimed to enhance the Fish Farmer Group (Pokdakan) skills in Palembang City, which is part of community service at the Muhammadiyah University of Palembang. The method is divided into two, i.e., presented material and demonstrations, followed by a training program on Mytus nemurus breeding. The training was to produce catfish larvae, increase Pokdakan skills to produce catfish fingerling that improves the economic welfare of aquaculture actors, and increase Pokdakan's awareness of sustainable local fish production.
