O objetivo do estudo foi avaliar a retenção hídrica, o estoque e os nutrientes da liteira em três ecossistemas de diferente nível sucessional. Os ambientes avaliados foram uma floresta secundária inicial, floresta secundária tardia e floresta primária, foram demarcadas cinco parcelas em cada ecossistema, onde aleatoriamente foram coletadas sete amostras/parcelas em dois períodos, totalizando 35 amostras por ecossistema a cada período. As amostras foram submetidas a análise estatística. Os resultados de retenção hídrica mostraram que no período menos chuvoso, a floresta secundária inicial e primária foram diferentes e maiores que secundária tardia. Já no estoque de liteira, constatou-se diferenças nos dois períodos, com maior quantidade para a floresta primária. Quanto a análise de nutrientes, o maior valor de nitrogênio foi para floresta primária; para o Fósforo foi a floresta secundária tardia, e no potássio não houve diferença entre os ecossistemas. Concluindo-se que os três ecossistemas apresentaram diferença na retenção hídrica; no estoque de liteira e nos valores de nutrientes, evidenciando que o nível sucessional influencia diretamente nestas variáveis.
A ciclagem de nutrientes é um processo chave na manutenção de florestas tropicais. A importância da serapilheira na ciclagem de nutrientes é um tema relevante e vem se tornando a base de diversos estudos nas últimas décadas. Com o objetivo de realizar uma análise quali-quantitativa sobre os estudos de serapilheira no Brasil, foi realizada uma bibliometria da produção científica no período de 2008-2019. Analisamos 119 artigos, distribuídos em 19 periódicos. O ano de 2015 apresentou o maior número de publicação com 18 artigos. O estado do Rio de Janeiro representou 13,45% da produção cientifica, e o bioma Mata Atlântica concentrou 55,72% das publicações, o que pode estar relacionado à presença das Fundações de Apoio à Pesquisa que mais investem na ciência brasileira. Mais da metade das publicações realizaram pesquisas em apenas um ecossistema. Do total de publicações, 71,4% quantificou o aporte da serapilheira, enquanto 21,9% o estoque. Os maiores valores de massa seca de serapilheira foram registrados no bioma Amazônia, com 8,32 ± 2,57 Mg ha-¹ ano-1 e nos ecossistemas caracterizados como floresta primária, com 8,19 ± 3,27 Mg ha-¹ ano-¹. Para o estoque, os estudos realizados no Cerrado apresentaram as maiores médias, com 7,24 ± 1,98 Mg ha-¹. Os resultados demonstraram que o número de publicações se concentra em determinadas regiões brasileiras. Além disso, percebem os que o maior número de estudos em ecossistemas de plantio monoespecífico e misto pode estar relacionado à importância ecológica e econômica para o Brasil.
Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar as propriedades físicas da liteira e a fitossociologia de uma floresta sucessional, 12 anos após o término do experimento de manipulação de recursos naturais, submetida a três tratamentos: Controle (CTL); Remoção de liteira (REM) e Irrigação (IRR). Realizamos a caracterização fitossociológica da comunidade (CAP > 15 cm) e coletamos a liteira estocada no solo em dois períodos (chuvoso e menos chuvoso). As variáveis analisadas das propriedades físicas da liteira foram o estoque de liteira (Mg ha-1), densidade (g cm-3), espessura (cm) e a capacidade de retenção hídrica (%). As espécies Lacistema pubescens, Annona exsucca e Ocotea guianensis foram encontradas em todos os tratamentos. Os tratamentos CTL e IRR apresentaram as maiores densidades de indivíduos e similaridade. O índice de Shannon variou de 1,71 a 2,13, porém não diferiu entre os tratamentos. O tratamento REM apresentou os maiores valores médios de estoque no período chuvoso (8,66 ± 0,42 Mg ha-1), enquanto no período menos chuvoso, os tratamentos com manipulação de recursos foram superiores ao controle. A capacidade de retenção hídrica foi semelhante entre os tratamentos, todavia constatamos um lento processo de restauração ecológica, que pode ser justificado pela proximidade às áreas urbanizadas. Acreditamos que a remoção de liteira pode retardar o desenvolvimento de plantas menos tolerantes às condições edáficas desfavoráveis, porém pode estimular adaptações morfofisiológicas. Após 12 anos do fim dos tratamentos, verificamos que a manipulação de recursos influenciou na recuperação das propriedades físicas da liteira, porém promove poucos efeitos nas características fitossociológicas.
Na Amazônia, a agricultura itinerante garante a subsistência das comunidades tradicionais, porém, ocasiona intensos impactos ambientais. A restauração florestal com o monitoramento de indicadores, como o banco de sementes é indispensável, pois, fornece informações sobre as espécies viáveis para germinação em cenários de distúrbios ecossistêmicos. Objetivou-se, portanto, avaliar a composição e a densidade do banco de semente de uma floresta sucessional na Amazônia, submetida à manipulação de água e nutrientes há 12 anos. As coletas foram realizadas de maneira aleatória, com o auxílio de um amostrador vazado, em um fragmento florestal com três tratamentos (controle - CTL, remoção de serapilheira - REM e irrigação periódica- IRR). Encontramos 684 indivíduos e 32 espécies. A densidade de indivíduos variou de 820 ± 112 a 972 ± 394 ind m-2 para REM e CTL, enquanto a de espécies variou de 188 ± 48 a 216 ± 9,24 spp m-2 para CTL e REM, respectivamente. Os arbustos apresentaram a maior quantidade de indivíduos emergentes, e os cipós, a menor. Os maiores índices de Shannon-Weanver e Pielou foram observados no CTL. As espécies Vismia guianensis, Cecropia obtusa e Cyperus rotundus foram as mais frequentes em todos os tratamentos e as espécies pioneiras predominaram. A velocidade de emergência do tratamento REM foi inferior ao CTL, enquanto o tempo médio de emergência foi semelhante entre os tratamentos. A composição e densidade do banco de sementes não foram afetadas pelo efeito residual da manipulação de serapilheira. Apesar disso, os resultados foram ligeiramente superiores para o tratamento CTL.
