In order to feel like a winner, a learning disabled adolescent needs to develop (1) necessary coping skills in academic, vocational, and social areas; (2) the resilience that allows him to understand and accept his problems; (3) the confidence to feel OK about himself whether he achieves or fails.By the time the learning disabled student has reached the secondary level, he may have become turned off to the school experience. He often exhibits confusing symptoms, suggestive of emotional maladjustment, and he needs alternate approaches to handle his problems. If he can't learn the way we teach him, we better teach him the way he learns.
