Olefine mit isolierter C=C-Bindung werden kathodisch nicht reduziert, wohl aber Doppefbindungen, die in Konjugation zu einem anderen x-System stehen. Endstandige, isolierte Dreifachbindungen konnen an der Quecksilberkathode ein Mol Wasserstoff aufnehmen. --Aus dern Ergebnis der ,,Halbreduktion" von Phenylacetylen und Diphenylacetylen (Unterbrechung der Elektrolyse nach Aufnahrne von twei Elektronen) wird geschlossen, daR Phenylacetylen und Tolan an der Quecksilberkathode in einem Schritt vier Elektronen aufnehmen. Mit diesem Befund stehen die Reduktionspotentiale von Tolan und Stilben in Ubereinstimmung. Die kathodische Reduktion ist praparativ dann interessant, wenn konjugierte C=C-Bindungen abgesattigt, isoliert stehende Doppelbindungen aber erhalten bleiben sollen. -Stereochemie: Bei der kathodischen Reduktion von Alkinen iiberwiegt die trans-Addition. In konjugierte Diene tritt der Wasserstoff bevorzugt in 1.4-Stellung, aber auch in 1.2-und 3.4-Stellung ein. Bei der 1.4-Addition entsteht ein Gernisch der cis-trans-isomeren Mono-olefine, in welchem im allgemeinen das trans-Isomere vorherrscht. Bei cis-und frans-Dimethyl-stilben und Maleinsaure-Derivaten iiberwiegt die cis-Addition. Die Kenntnis dieser stereochemischen Zusarnmenhange erlaubt keine widerspruchslose Deutung der in der Grenzflachendoppelschicht ablaufenden Prozesse. Die Strukturabhlngigkeit der Bildung von trans-Butendiol-Derivaten aus Butindiol-Derivaten wird untersucht.
