The design and operational characteristics of a self-priming aerator are described.I t sucks the desired air quantity into the tank and distributes it uniformly arid in very fine bubbles over a certain cross-sect,ion. The design and operatiorial characterist, ics of a mechanical defoamer are described. The defoamer is mounted to the top of the fermentation t,ank and separates foam by centrifugal force into air arid liquid. It is capable of handling foams of different composition and quality without the addition of antifoam agents. Using submerged vinegar fermentation, production of baker's yeast, and industrial waste water treatment as example;;, tjhe performance of aerators and defoamers of different sizes is discussed. The aerator works without a compressor.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
