Indonesia is an area rich in biodiversity and several fish population be potential to ornamental fish development. Ornamental fish development is one of interesting commodities because it has a broad market share both locally and export. Increased demand for ornamental fish in the market leads breaders or traders who make ornamental fish as a potential commodity and its can impact on fish conservation. However, the potential of ornamental fish had not been properly recorded so that mapping needs to undertake. This study aims to know the diversity of fish which traded and the condition of business actors, especially in the Tegallega ornamental fish market, Bandung. The research was conducted through interviews and direct observations in the field from January to February 2018. The results showed that there were 55 species of fish belonging to 27 Families; the most popular fish is Goldfish (Carassius auratus). Two species including to Endangered (EN) category, one species including to Vulnerable (VU) category, 24 species including to Least Concern (LC) category, three species including to category of Data Deficient (DD), and nine species including to category of Not Evaluated (NE). This data can be used to be more information about the conditions of ornamental fish commodities for businessman, fisheries services, academics, and management strategies by goverment regarding ornamental fish.
Abstract. Paujiah E, Dhahiyat Y, Herawati T, Iskandar, Haryono, Zulfahmi I, Fahri. 2023. Length-weight relationships and condition factors of brackish water catfish, Mystus gulio (Hamilton, 1822) from three different estuaries, West Java, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 24: 2855-2864. This study investigated the biometric condition of brackish water catfish (Mystus gulio Hamilton 1822) collected from three different estuaries in Cianjur District, West Java Province, Indonesia. Data (class interval, growth pattern, and factor condition) were sorted based on time, location, and season. Water quality parameters measured include temperature, conductivity, TDS, hardness, resistivity, pH, DO, total oxygen, ORP, and salinity. The correlation between K-Value and water quality parameters was analyzed using multivariate analysis. Our results showed that the worth pattern of M. gulio was allometric, with condition factors value ranging from 0.904-1.042. There were variations in the growth patterns according to time, location, and fish sex. The lowest condition factor values were found in August for males and April for females. Meanwhile, the highest condition factor values were found for males on 4 June 2022 and 5 February 2022 for females. The NMDS analysis places the water resistivity and conductivity on a different axis from other environmental factors. The results of our study suggest that the estuaries in Cianjur District were adequate for supporting the survival and growth of M. gulio by providing food and suitable habitat.
The fish species is the one of main biological resources of estuary waters. The estuaries have critical role for sustainability of fish resources. The study aims to determine of diversity of estuaries fish species at Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia. Fish sampling was carried out during June and July 2018 at two location (Ciujung and Ciwidig estuaries). The fishing gears (anco and gill net) used to collected sample with mesh sizes of 1.5 and 2 inches. The results showed that 114 fishes sample from 19 species belong to 16 famili and distributed in two estuaries because these estuaries has same habitats, retivelly. Conservation status aims to protect and preserve living species. The benefit is this data can used to be more information about database in management of fisheries and to be database for making regulation in sustainability of fisheries.
