Once a grant is received, the work of implementing the study so that it can be replicated by other researchers really begins. CAReS, a 5-year, randomized clinical intervention study, funded by the NINR began mid-2001. The first 3 months involved finalizing the budget and subcontracts, developing brochures, hiring and training the staff, finalizing procedures, meeting with recruitment sites and securing final approvals from review boards in all affiliated institutions. Forty specific protocols that guided the intervention (recovery, therapy, stress, coping, special problems and lifestyle) were finalized. A project Access database was developed to track participants in the longitudinal study to insure timely assessments and decrease attrition. A second Access database was developed to track the types of intervention protocols used with each couple and the specific content covered, as well as process details such as the time spent in the home and the individuals participating in the visit.Traditional teaching and learning pedagogical models do not adequately address the needs of students and often present substantial barriers to incorporating the benefits of technology enhanced learning. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
