layer-dependent bandgap, [10] valley selective circular dichroism, [11] high on/off ratio, [12] and high thermostability [12] of the 2D MoS 2 . The performance of these novel devices significantly depends on the intrinsic optical properties (especially the dielectric function) of the 2D MoS 2 , which exhibit an intriguing layer dependency due to the enhanced quantum confinement effect and the absence of inversion symmetry. Therefore, the effective characterization of the layer-dependent optical properties of MoS 2 is critical for the performance improvement and the optimal design of those photoelectric devices based on MoS 2 .Layer-dependent optical properties of MoS 2 , including absorbance, [1] photoluminescence spectra, [10] Raman spectra, [13] and second-harmonic generation effect, [14] have been measured and discussed previously. However, these studies can hardly gain the basic optical constants, such as dielectric function, complex refraction index, etc., which play an important role in the quantitative design and optimization of those MoS 2 -based photoelectric devices. [15] Beyond these researches, there are also some reports on the dielectric function of the 2D MoS 2 , where the techniques they used can be roughly divided into three types: ellipsometry, [16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26] reflection (or absorption) spectrum method, [27,28] and contrast spectrum or differential reflection (or transmission) spectrum method. [29,30] By using of ellipsometry, Li et al. investigated the optical properties of the monolayer and bulk MoS 2 , and identified some critical points (CPs) in their dielectric function spectra. [22] The frequency-dependent reflection (transmission) spectra and corresponding differential spectra of the monolayer MoS 2 were simultaneously measured by Morozov et al., then the dielectric function was extracted. [27] Li et al. measured the reflection spectra of the mechanical exfoliation monolayer MoS 2 flake and the bulk MoS 2 , then their dielectric functions were calculated combined with a Kramers-Kronig constrained variational analysis. [28] Nevertheless, these published experimental reports on the dielectric function of MoS 2 mainly focus on the monolayer and bulk counterpart and the spectral range is relatively narrow. Apart from these experimental studies, some researchers have also devoted to predict the dielectric properties of the 2D MoS 2 with the help of theoretical calculations. [31,32] For example, Johari et al. studied the dielectric properties of monolayer, bilayer, and bulk MoS 2 by computing the electron Wafer-scale, high-quality, and layer-controlled 2D MoS 2 films on c-sapphire are synthesized by an innovative two-step method. Most ionizing radiation-induced damage is caused by hydroxyl radicals, and the selective reduction of hydroxyl by hydrogen in vitro has been demonstrated previously. Irradiation of the heart can cause chronic cardiac disease. This study was designed to test the hypothesis that hydrogen-rich water (pure water saturated with molecular hydrogen), which is easy to use, induces cardioprotection against ionizing irradiation injury in mice. In this paper, we demonstrate that hydrogen can protect myocardium degeneration from radiation-induced injury, decrease myocardium malondialdehyde (MDA), 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) levels, and increase myocardium endogenous antioxidants in vivo. We suggest that hydrogen has a cardioprotective effect against radiation induced injury.

The actin-bundling protein L-plastin (LPL) mediates the resorption activity of osteoclasts, but its therapeutic potential in pathological bone loss remains unexplored. Here, we report that LPL knockout mice show increased bone mass and cortical thickness with more mononuclear tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase–positive cells, osteoblasts, CD31hiEmcnhi endothelial vessels, and fewer multinuclear osteoclasts in the bone marrow and periosteum. LPL deletion impeded preosteoclasts fusion by inhibiting filopodia formation and increased the number of preosteoclasts, which release platelet-derived growth factor-BB to promote CD31hiEmcnhi vessel growth and bone formation. LPL expression is regulated by the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/AKT/specific protein 1 axis in response to receptor activator of nuclear factor–κB ligand. Furthermore, we identified an LPL inhibitor, oroxylin A, that could maintain bone mass in ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis and accelerate bone fracture healing in mice. In conclusion, we showed that LPL regulates osteoclasts fusion, and targeting LPL serves as a novel anabolic therapy for pathological bone loss.

Wound infection can cause a delay in wound healing or even wound deterioration, threatening patients' lives. The excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in infected wounds activates a strong inflammatory response to delay wound healing. Therefore, it is highly desired to develop hydrogels with inherent antimicrobial activity and antioxidant capability for infected wound healing. Herein, a dopamine-substituted multidomain peptide (DAP) with inherent antimicrobial activity, strong skin adhesion, and ROS scavenging has been developed. DAP can form bilayer β-sheets with dopamine residues on the surface of nanofibers. The enhanced rheological properties of DAP-based hydrogel can be achieved not only through UV irradiation but also by incorporation of multivalent ions (e.g., PO 4 3− ). Furthermore, the DAP hydrogel shows a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity due to the high positive charges of lysine residues and the βsheet formation. When applied to full-thickness dermal wounds in mice, the DAP hydrogel results in a significantly shortened inflammatory stage of the healing process because of its remarkable antimicrobial activity and antioxidant capability. Accelerated wound closure with thick granulation tissue, uniform collagen arrangement, and dense vascularization can be achieved. This work suggests that the DAP hydrogel can serve as antimicrobial coating and ROS-scavenging wound dressing for bacterial-infected wound treatment.

The targeting ability, drug‐loading capacity, and size of the drug nanocarriers are crucial for enhancing the therapeutic index for cancer therapy. Herein, the morphology and size‐controllable fabrication of supramolecular tumor‐targeting nanocarriers based on host–guest recognition between a novel pillar[5]arene‐based prodrug WP5‐DOX and a Arg‐Gly‐Asp (RGD)‐modified sulfonate guest RGD‐SG is reported. The amphiphilic WP5‐DOX⊃RGD‐SG complex with a molar ratio of 5:1 self‐assembles into vesicles, whereas smaller‐sized micelles can be obtained by changing the molar ratio to 1:3. This represents a novel strategy of controllable construction of supramolecular nanovehicles with different sizes and morphologies based on the same host−guest interactions by using different host−guest ratios. Furthermore, in vitro and in vivo studies reveal that both these prodrug nanocarriers could selectively deliver doxorubicin to RGD receptor‐overexpressing cancer cells, leading to longer blood retention time, enhanced antitumor efficacy, and reduced systematic toxicity in murine tumor model, suggesting their potential application for targeted drug delivery.
