Background
Minimally invasive temporomandibular joint surgery (MITMJS) is an option for patients suffering from severe internal derangement or adhesions. To improve TMJ access, a workflow to create surgical templates is introduced.
Methods
A workflow to generate a dividable patient specific template based on CBCT and optical scanning to access the joint is introduced. In a first clinical trial 3 patients (6 joints) were treated by way of template-guided endoscopically-assisted TMJ therapy (3 arthrocenteses and 3 arthroscopies).
Results
Generation and clinical use of the templates was as planned. All templates showed perfect fit and permitted instant access to the TMJ. All surgeries were performed without complications.
Conclusions
Template-guidance could improve the feasibility of endoscopically-assisted TMJ therapy. An important issue is the capability to dis- and remount the template during surgery. Using in-house production, costs are affordable.

A 31-year-old woman with chronic myeloid leukemia developed bullous skin changes not responding to antibiotic therapy. A biopsy showed a sterile predominantly neutrophilic infiltrate consistent with Sweet's syndrome. These skin changes responded well to methylprednisolon. Seven months later the patient died in a blast crisis.
Following publication of the original article [1], the authors reported that the registration number of the ethics approval was accidentally entered under trial registration. A trial registration was not performed by the authors.
A 62-year-old man with histological confirmed relapsing polychondritis showed chondritis of ears and nose, arthritis, keratitis and a hemolytic anemia. The bronchoalveolar lavage, computed tomography of the thorax and pulmonary function tests disclosed findings compatible with fibrosing alveolar disease. IgG antibodies to alveolar pneumocytes type II and bronchiolar Clara cells were detected by indirect immunofluorescence of human lung tissue. To our knowledge this is the first report of fibrosing alveolar disease in relapsing polychondritis and detection of antibodies to human pneumocytes type II and Clara cells.
