PT. XYZ is a manufacturing company that produces grey fabrics, it can be customized by the customers. In order to increase productivity and quality production, the company trying to develop business by adding some machines with the latest type and technologies. Based on direct observations, Company produced a lot of defects and causes a negative impact. The problem can be solved by 4 quality control methods (exist in seven tools method) check sheets, pareto diagrams, control charts, and fishbone diagrams. This method used to determine the root of problems related with the quality products. Check sheet method analysis shown intensity categories of product defects with label "always", "often" and "rarely". Then, the analysis of pareto diagrams showing the most dominant types of defects, with the name "Loncat P / L" and "Ambrol". Furthermore, the results of the control chart analysis show an uncontrolled status. Finally, it can be known that the problem causing product defects is quality of dirty raw materials, machine failure, labour fatigue, poor work methods and unhealthy environment. recommendations given by researchers to the company are further tighten SOP implementation, control and supervise workforce performance, workforce briefings, and pay attention to 5S work culture.
Blood supply is an important part that is very influential on health because almost all blood types are necessary for medical activities. This condition makes blood management very important, but improper blood management can cause a waste that results in huge final costs and causes losses for both the customer and the blood supplier. In this case, Monte Carlo simulation can be used to develop several policies that can optimize blood inventory levels and minimize inventory costs at Indonesian Red Cross XYZ. In this simulation, input data required are blood donor supply and Packed Red cells (PRC) demand data, this data will be used to determine the shortage and expired rate. From simulation will be obtained shortage rate of 33 blood bags and an expired rate of 75 blood bags with inventory cost Rp. 36,226,964. Monte Carlo simulation will make new policy rules with increasing the supply of whole blood (WB) which will be used as a component of the PRC and reducing the supply level. From these simulation results, the best policy will gain and applied at PMI XYZ to optimize inventory cost.
Monte Carlo simulations are used to model the probability of different outcomes in a process that cannot easily be predicted due to the intervention of random variables. In this case, Monte Carlo develops several policies to optimize income costs at Hani Cake & Bakery. Hani Cake & Bakery have a problem with bread demand. Sometimes, demand is low that will pile up bread stock while causing the remaining bread to expire, and sometimes the demand is high, causing the bread stock not to meet customer demand. These problems will have an impact on income costs. In this simulation, the input data needed are cake supply, demand, and sweetbread return data in Hani Cake & Bakery, which will later determine the expired rate. The simulation obtained 30 replications with an expiration rate of 119 bread with an inventory cost of Rp. 413.000. The next policy will be determined by making a new policy in scenarios 1 and 2 by reducing the supply level by 20% and 35%. These results obtained a policy that can be applied to Hani Cake & Bakery with a benchmark of income costs.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
