Personal informatics applications have been gaining momentum with the introduction of implicit data collection and alert mechanisms on smart phones. A need for customized design of these applications is emerging and studies on tailoring UI design based on the personality traits of users are well established. This poster investigates how various affordances in gamified personal informatics applications affect motivation levels to track and achieve goals for users with different personality types. We conducted a study to examine how user personality traits relate to (1) motivational affordances in behavior tracking applications and (2) the specific behaviors users prefer to track.
Abstract-Knowledge sharing has been considered a significant component of success in Knowledge Management (KM). However, in most organizations KM is often inadequate when it comes to knowledge sharing. In order to encourage knowledge sharing using Web technology, it is important to know why staff do or do not use web based knowledge sharing systems (WKSS), when communicating internally and sharing knowledge via Web technology, and when and where this happens. Very few models have paid attention to examining user acceptance of omitting WKSS specifically in the academic context; therefore, the purpose of this research is to investigate the factors that affect academics' behavior in accepting the use of WKSS. The WKSS model which has been developed model, and uses as its core the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), involving performance expectancy, effort expectancy and social influences. Minor changes in these factors are adopted, to enhance our understanding of WKSS acceptance and usage and additional factors are synthesized, which are trust in the technology and time expended. User acceptance of the developed WKSS model was tested and all the factors were confirmed.
Global knowledge has become a central issue for an organization"s survival. In the last few decades, Web technologies have become widely used for Knowledge Management; these are called Knowledge Management Systems (KMS). Recently, in Knowledge Management (KM) the effectiveness of knowledge sharing has been considered a significant component for KMS success. In the most universities the KM is often inadequate when it comes to knowledge sharing, especially between academics. In order to encourage knowledge sharing, it is important to know why/where/when academics choose to contribute or to receive shared knowledge. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to investigate the factors that affect an academics" behavior towards knowledge sharing by using technology. Knowledge Sharing Technology model (KST) is proposed model was constructed combining the affecting factors: these factors are a synthesis of factors which already exist in current theories, i.e. the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and Social Exchange Model (SET), as well as other factors which are always explored independently in research studies The future work will focus on confirming the model.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citationsโcitations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
