The research aimed at investigating indentity politics and representation, and the implication of the indetity politics and representation of Marind ethnic group in the Regional People’s Representative Council of Merauke Regency. This research used the qualitative descriptive method. The reseach result indicates that the indetity politics of Marind ethnic group occurs because the condition of Marind ethnic gruop is increasingly marginalized, many exploitations on the land based on faith as the indigenious ethnic group and customary territory owners at Merauke Regency. The indentity politics of Marind ethnic group accurs mostly based on the ethnicity, not based on the regilion and gender. In the indentity politics of Marind ethnic group, there is also the elites’ involvement namely the customary elites and goverment elites, while the religious elites are not involved. The deman representation of Marind ethnic group is based on the Special Autonomy Acts of the Article 38 verse 3, Article 6 verse 4 and verse 2. The representation of Marind ethnic group regarding their interests and neccessities cannot be fought for by their representatives in the Regional People’s Representative Council. The impact of the identity politics is the formation the new electoral district in the electoral district of Merauke Regency which is specialized for the indigenous community. Marind ethnic group has comprehended and understood politics. Moreover, the representation of the neccesities and interests of Marind ethnic group has been responded and accommodated.
Globalization has affected the Indonesian people's lives. This study aims to examine the socio-cultural transformation of Wihdatul Ummah Kindergarten in Makassar. It is a qualitative research using an ethnographic approach. The research participants are parents, teachers, leaders and school staff. The Islamic education system initiated by Wahdah Islamiah is not as easy as imagined. Internal and external conflicts, such as stigma and stereotypes as exclusive education, etc. are indisputable. Currently, it is gaining a significant positive response. Islamic religious values could be well developed and nurtured in Wihdatul Ummah Kindergarten. These values undergo a lengthy enculturation process and involve a variety of stakeholders as well as the environment. There are, however, supporting and inhibiting factors its development and implementation.
