Kajian ini bertujuan mengenal pasti profil dan personaliti pelajar yang berprestasi lemah di Fakulti Pengurusan dan Pembangunan Sumber Manusia (FPPSM), punca–punca pencapaian prestasi pembelajaran mereka dan jenis–jenis latihan yang diperlukan. Responden terdiri daripada keseluruhan pelajar FPPSM yang memperolehi skor CGPA kurang daripada 2.5. Kaedah pengumpulan data dijalankan dengan menggunakan borang soal selidik dan dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan menggunakan perisian Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Kebolehpercayaan borang soal selidik adalah 0.659. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa kebanyakan pelajar berprestasi lemah di FPPSM ini terdiri daripada pelajar Melayu, berasal dari kawasan luar bandar atau pekan kecil dengan tahap sosio ekonomi keluarga yang rendah. Dalam kajian ini, majoriti daripada mereka mempunyai personaliti ‘introcert’, memandang rendah terhadap kemampuan diri dan menghadapi masalah untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan teknik belajar di Institusi Pengaiian Tinggi (IPT). Kebanyakan mereka memerlukan latihan bimbingan kerjaya, kursus pengurusan masa, kursus komunikasi berkesan dan kemahiran belajar yang berkesan. Beberapa cadangan kajian untuk pihak FPPSM dan UTM turut dinyatakan dalam kajian ini. Kata kunci: Prestasi akademik, introvert, personaliti, keupayaan This study attempts to identify the profle and personalities of Faculty of Management and Human Resource Development (FPPSM) students whose academic performance is under average, the causes of their poor academic performance and types of training that are needed by them. The respondents in this study are all FPPSM students whose CGPA is less than 2 5. Data were collected through questionnaires and the responses were analyzed descriptively using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The reliability of the questionnaire is 0.659. The findings of the study show that most of the students whose academic performance was under average at FPPSM are Malays, from rural areas or small towns and from low socio–economic income families. In this study, the majority of the students belong to the “introvert†personalities down who grade their own capabilities and have problems in adapting themselves to the learning techniques at the institution of higher learning. Most of them need training in career guidance, time management, effective communication and study skills. In this study, several recommendations were suggested to FPPSM and UTM. Kajian ini membincangkan tentang tahap hubungan sosial dan patriotisme dalam kalangan pelajar tahun satu Kampus Johor Bahru, UTM. Seramai 521 pelajar yang telah mengikuti kursus Hubungan Etnik (KHE) menjadi responden kajian ini. Kajian ini merupakan kajian tinjauan yang menggunakan borang soal selidik. Skop kajian ini tentang hubungan sosial daripada perspektif perpaduan kaum dan partriotisme yang melibatkan kecintaan, kebanggaan dan kesetiaan kepada negara. Data dianalisis menggunakan kekerapan, peratusan dan min. Hasil kajian menunjukkan tahap hubungan sosial pelajar tahun satu adalah berada pada tahap sederhana. Manakala patriotisme pula berada pada tahap tinggi. Beberapa cadangan juga dikemukakan untuk memperbaiki kelemahan–kelemahan kepada pengajaran dan pembelajaran kursus Hubungan Etnik di UTM. Respondents of this study were 521 students enrolled in the Ethnic Relation course. A survey method using questionnaire was used. The scopes of the study include social relation from the perspective of ethnic unity and patriotism in the context of love, admiration and loyalty to the country. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage and mean. The findings showed that the level of social relation among the first year students was at a moderate level, whereas the level of patriotism was high. Several recommendations are given to improve the weaknesses of teaching and learning in Ethnic Relation course at UTM.
