EC in this region, including opium consumption, drinking hot tea, poor oral hygiene, obesity, exposure to polycyclic and genetic factors (Kamangar et al., 2007). There is no data about the relationship between FB1 and incidence of EC in this high risk area. So, we conducted this study to determine FB1 contamination of rice and corn samples and its relationship with EC in Golestan province of Iran.

In this study, we investigated the therapeutic effects of simvastatin administered in combination with bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) following experimentally induced embolic stroke in rats. Effects on infarct volume, brain oedema and neurological deficits were examined. Focal ischaemic brain injury was induced by emblazing a preformed clot into the middle cerebral artery in rats. Animals were administered simvastatin (40 mg/kg) at 1 hr after stroke, or BMSCs (3 9 10 6 ) at 24 hr after stroke or a combination of these two treatments. Rats receiving a dose of simvastatin in combination with BMSC administration demonstrated a significant reduction in neurological deficits, a significant reduction in infarct volume and a significant decrease in brain oedema. Our data show that combining simvastatin administration with BMSCs has an additive effect on improving functional outcome in this thromboembolic stroke model.

In the present study, the effects of intra-locus coeruleus injection of a dopamine D(1) receptor agonist (SKF38393) on naloxone-induced withdrawal signs of morphine-dependent rats were examined. Twenty different withdrawal signs were assessed. The total withdrawal score was calculated and used as an index of withdrawal intensity for comparison. The D(1) agonist and antagonist were injected 15 and 30 min prior to expression of naloxone-induced withdrawal signs, respectively. SKF38393 (2 and 4 microg/site) decreased while SCH23390 (a D(1) antagonist) had no effect on the total withdrawal score. On the other hand, SCH23390 (25 ng/site) reversed the SKF38393 effect. It may be concluded that activation of dopamine D(1) receptors in the locus coeruleus attenuates naloxone-induced withdrawal.
