The role of investment, in particularly foreign direct investment (FDI), is regarded as one of the most important contributors of economic growth. The past quarter century has witnessed remarkable growth in FDIs flow all over the world. This is due to the fact that many countries, especially developing countries, see FDI as an important element in their overall strategy for economic development. This paper provides a review of the economic impact of FDI, with specific focus on developing countries particularly Kosovo and ex-Yugoslavian countries in the Balkan Peninsula. FDIs contribute to the economic development of host country in two main ways. They include the augmentation of domestic capital and the enhancement of efficiency through the transfer of new technology, marketing and managerial skills, innovation, and best practices. Secondly, FDI has both benefits and costs, and its impact is determined by the country's specific conditions in general and the policy environment in particular. This is in terms of the ability to diversify, the level of absorption capacity, targeting of FDI, and the various opportunities for linkages between FDI and domestic investment. The paper aims to clarify the main causes of failure of foreign direct investments in Kosovo and reviles the importance of indicators that majorly has an institutional nature. Neither the amount nor the effects of foreign direct investment were satisfactory. Therefore, the paper reviles that in this aspect, a wide range of actions needs to be made, which is specifically related to government institutions and the business community.
The purpose of this research is to see whether the insurance influences the economic development of Western Balkan countries. Currently, insurance comprises an economic sector that includes all activities of conception, production and trading of this type of service that is of public interest but generally carried out by private law entities. For the specification of the econometric model in this research, we are based on the secondary data published in the official reports of the World Bank, the Central Bank, and the statistical agencies of some countries. To measure empirical results, there are used these statistical tests: fixed effects model, Hausman Taylor Regression, generalized method of the moment (GMM), and GLS regression. Based on the empirical results, we can conclude that life insurance and non-life insurance have a significant connection and positively impact the economic growth of these countries. Other variables that have shown a positive result in economic growth are: GDP per capita, Exports, whereas variables that negatively impact on economic growth are inflation and government spending. The empirical results of this document may recommend that relevant institutions implement institutional improvements that contribute to strengthening competition, advancing risk management techniques, and so on. In conclusion, we can say that future researches can be done as events, life insurance or non-life insurance impact on economic growth in Kosovo and in the countries of the region. The study is carried out with secondary data, and all empirical analyses are original. Through the results of this study we intend to offer more empirical evidence for our country and countries in the region recommending that relevant institutions improve the functioning of the financial sector and especially the insurances part because it is the factor that affects the economic growth. Purpose: With this paper, we aim to show the benefits of international business cooperation in Kosovo. Design/Methodology/Approach: We do this by providing an overview of the current international business cooperation in Kosovo, the policies and procedures and the conditions available. Findings: It is recommended that businesses in Kosovo intensify business cooperation since global competition compels corporations to increase competitiveness by lowering production costs. Internationally affirmed brand corporations manage to lower production costs by applying different forms of international business cooperation with business entities in developing countries Practical Implications: One of the forms of international business cooperation is cooperation with internationally affirmed brand corporations to reduce production costs. At the same time, businesses in developing countries realize the profits for themselves and contribute to reducing the level of unemployment in their countries. Originality/Value: Given the positive aspects of the manufacturing cooperation, we believe that it is important to determine and highlight the impact on the economy in Kosovo and to recommend changes if and where necessary so as to improve benefits for the country.
Purpose-With the continuous growth of global environment, the pressure in organizations has also increased in order to make their operational and strategic processes as effective as it can be. Information System (IS) is a set of components that can enhance this effectiveness and help in gathering information that can affect in decision-making. Therefore, lots of companies have decided to implement Information Systems in order to increase the performance of their company. Methodology-However, one must keep in mind that neglecting while implementing can bring problems with it. One of the biggest companies in Kosovo that have implemented Information Systems is Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK). The purpose of this thesis is to show some basic concepts about Management Information Systems (MIS) and information technologies, especially about hardware, software, data processing, telecommunication and networks. Findings-Moreover, this thesis will include how Information Systems have been implemented in KEK, an introduction about history of KEK, and what kind of information technologies are used there, particularly about hardware and software that are used in KEK for data storage and maintenance as well describing software applications like computerized accounting system. We'll talk about how are communication achieved and what kind of network's infrastructure is used by the company in question. Conclusion-Furthermore, the last chapters will discuss database systems, with main focus on explanation of what is SQL SERVER of Microsoft and how can it help us -a software that is used in most of KEK's databases. Some databases of this corporation will also be described, including their design, database diagram, data types, indexes, as well as how we can make reports of particular databases by reporting services like SSRS, thus helping in data analysis.
