Excessive input of nitrogen fertilizer not only causes a great waste of resources but brings about a series of ecological and environmental problems. Although Small Auxin Up-regulated RNAs (SAURs) participate in diverse biological processes, the function of SAURs in the nitrogen starvation response has not been well-studied. Here, we identified 308 TaSAURs in wheat and divided them into 10 subfamilies. The promoter regions of most TaSAURs contain hormone responsive elements, and their expression levels change under the treatment of different hormones, such as IAA, MeJA, and ABA. Interestingly, overexpression of one of the TaSAUR family members, a nitrogen starvation responsive gene, TaSAUR66-5B, can promote the growth of Arabidopsis and wheat roots. In addition, overexpression of TaSAUR66-5B in Arabidopsis up-regulates the expression levels of auxin biosynthesis related genes, suggesting that overexpression TaSAUR66-5B may promote root growth by increasing the biosynthesis of auxin. Furthermore, overexpression of TaSAUR66-5B in wheat can increase the biomass and grain yields of transgenic plants, as well as the nitrogen concentration and accumulation of both shoots and grains, especially under low nitrogen conditions. This study provides important genomic information of the TaSAUR gene family and lays a foundation for elucidating the functions of TaSAURs in improving nitrogen utilization efficiency in wheat.
Most of electricity power in China comes from coal and hydropower. Already, China must import nearly half of its oil. Concerns about power capacity shortages and air pollution are all adding urgency and pressure to switch to alternative technologies and renewable energy. Among renewable energy sources, wind power and solar photovoltaic power are playing key roles in China, and are the fastest-growing power generation technologies. So this paper focuses on them and analyzes the corresponding technical properties of them. First of all, wind power transforms the kinetic energy from the wind into electricity by using wind turbines. Thus the basic components of wind turbines are described. Wind speed is an important factor to wind energy. So the features of wind speed are analyzed, and the wind energy is calculated. Second, the technical properties of solar photovoltaic power are discussed, including photovoltaic cells and modules, battery, inverter and photovoltaic controller. Photovoltaic energy is also analyzed and calculated. Third, the environmental impacts of wind power and solar photovoltaic power are presented. Finally, the relevant conclusions are drawn.
-The smart grid is evolving rapidly from a relatively isolated environment to an opened one. The adoption of information and communication technologies can make greater connectivity and interoperability between components. However, the increased connectivity also brings the challenge to security. First of all, in allusion to the current study on security threats to smart grid simple and deficient, the paper induces and analyzes it thoroughly, which can also correct some misunderstanding in a certain degree, from the view of system level, services, confidentiality and so on. Secondly, based on the analysis of security threats, the paper constructs the security strategy for smart grid. It consists of four steps, which are discussed detailedly one by one. It can provide the protection effectively. Finally, relevant conclusions are made.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
