Background: Most severe and frequent complication of pregnancy is Oligohydramnios and the incidence of this is observed to be about 1-5 % of total pregnancies. Objective of present study was to find the maternal and perinatal outcome, etiology associated with oligohydramnios at tertiary care hospital.Methods: This prospective study was done among 55 patients with gestational age from 30-40wks with Oligohydramnios AFI<5cms with intact membranes were analysed for perinatal outcomes admitted at department of obstetrics and Gynecology in B.J. Medical college, Ahmedabad during July 2008 to July 2010.Results: 65.5% participants were belonged to 20 to 25 age group and 35.5% participants were Primigravida. Mean age was 23.9±3.3 years and mean gestation age was 36.9 week. Almost 72.2% were in 34 to 37 weeks of gestational age. Study found FMC <10 in 56.4% of participants. Forty percent participants have AFI 4 and 27.3% have AFI 5.  47.3% delivery was done by vaginal route. 5.5% baby was still birth and prematurity were the most common cause of still birth. Around 71% babies were low birth weight and congenital anomalies were present in 7.3% babies. APGAR score measured <7 at 1 minute was in 65.4% and <7 at 5 minutes was in 43.6% babies.Conclusions: Oligohydramnios in obstetrics is a frequent occurrence and it points towards intensive surveillance and proper ante-natal and post-natal care. Due to high perinatal morbidity and mortality, the incidence of LSCS increases. However, vaginal delivery has similar outcome, but strict vigilance in labor is mandatory.

The association between POD obliteration at TVS and surgical findings was significant for the following features: right and left ovarian fixation (p = 8.1E-10 and 3.4E-11, respectively), right and left ovarian endometrioma (p = 2.6E-06 and 1.8E-05, respectively), DIE nodules in general (p = 1.1E-18) and DIE nodules specifically involving the anterior rectum, rectosigmoid colon, and left uterosacral ligament (p = 5.7E-13, 2.5E-05, 0.005, respectively). The need for bowel surgery was also significantly associated with POD obliteration at TVS (p = 5.4E-15). Conclusions: This study helps to define the surgical findings that may be associated with a negative ''sliding sign'', or POD obliteration, during TVS. The pre-operative identification of TVS markers such as POD obliteration may alert the clinician to the possibility of difficult endometriosis surgery, which may extend beyond POD obliteration.

Spontaneous rupture of endometrial cyst (endometrioma) in nonpregnant state is very rare and presents as an acute abdomen. We are presenting two such cases with no history of typical dysmenorrhoea suggesting endometriosis. Thirty one years old, unmarried, nulligravida woman presented with acute abdominal pain followed by vomiting and abdominal distension. Ultrasound revealed free fluid in peritoneal cavity with good peristaltic bowel movements and bilateral ovarian cyst with normal uterus. There was no free gas under diaphragm. She progressively deteriorated with increasing distention and operated on 3rd day of pain. She was Pakistani traveller and surgical intervention delayed due to delay in consent. Another 30 years old primipara lady presented with complain of acute abdominal pain in LIF followed by nausea and vomiting. Ultrasonography revealed free fluid in form of vertical collection in POD, with 31 X 31 mm size left ovarian cyst with few internal echoes and probe tenderness. She was managed conservatively considering haemorrhagic corpus luteal cyst. But symptoms persisted. After 20 days of pain, there was 6 X 3 cm encysted echogenic fluid collection in POD. Uterus was pushed anteriorly and tender on examination. She was operated laparoscopically. Left ovary and tube found adherent with posterior surface of uterus with endometriosis and encysted fluid collection between sigmoid, rectum, left pelvic wall and uterus which was walled off by omentum cranially. Both cases managed laparoscopically successfully with uneventful postoperative outcome. Diagnosis of endometriosis was confirmed by histopathological examination. Methods: Ultrasound examinations were performed in 2,887 women with a transvaginal, transrectal or transabdominal transducer at Ewha Womans University Mokdong hospital. Transvaginal ultrasounds were performed in 494 normal control women (normal menstruation without hyperandrogenism or PCO morphology) and 183 PCOS patients according to National Institutes of Health (NIH) PCOS diagnosis criteria. Transrectal ultrasounds were performed in 141 normal control women and 145 PCOS patients. Transabdominal ultrasounds were performed in 185 normal control women and 248 PCOS patients. ROC curves were calculated for ovarian volume and follicle number. Results: In transvaginal ultrasound group, the mean age of normal control group were 28.0±4.4 years old.
