En travaillant dans un milieu de faible alcalinitk, et en employant la methode de standardisation en milieu identique, le nombre d'electrons echangts (n = 8) correspond a la rtaction stochiometrique.Un contrble a dtmontre que la methode proposee a une prtcision moyenne de 0,25%, et permet ainsi des titrages de solutions de thio-acktamide d'une concentration de 0.01 molaire.
L'influence de l'alcalinité dans l'oxydation des sulfocyanures par l'hypobromite de soude a été étudiée à l'aide d'une méthode générale où le nombre d'électrons échangés (n) dans l'oxydation du composé réducteur a été déterminé.
Les résultats obtenus indiquent que l'alcalinité de la solution originale n'a pas d'influence notable dans la détermination des sulfocyanures de potassium, où n = 8.
Par contre, pour la détermination des sulfocyanures d'ammonium, la teneur en hydroxyde de soude ne peut varier qu'entre des concentrations limitées. Le nombre d'électrons échangés est de n = 11 pour des solutions de légère alcalinité et diminue de façon progressive en augmentant la quantité d'hydroxyde de soude: dans les milieux de forte alcalinité, l'oxydation devient perturbée et ne répond plus à une réaction stochiométrique.
Pour les deux cas, la teneur en hypobromite a été déterminée par la méthode graphique.
