Summary
The cytology of the fungus species Candida albicans in human candidosis was studied by correlated light and electron microscopy. On this, we have found only light microscopic studies in the literature, whereas the relevant electron microscopic papers, to our knowledge, exclusively demonstrate the cytology of Candida albicans strains grown on culture media. The results of our investigations complete and correct some conceptions that have hitherto existed on several organelles of Candida albicans cells parasitic in man.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
