Ethylenediammonium hexasulfide has been synthesized from ethylenediamine, sulfur, and gaseous H2S in aqueous solution. X-ray investigations on single crystals revealed its structure. The monoclinic unit cell contains eight formula units, the space group is Cc. The sulfur atoms form unbranched zig-zag chains S62- in all-trans-conformation.
Die Darstellung, Strukturen und Eigenschaften der Verbindungen MTh6Br15 (MMn, Fe, Co, Ni), NaxFeTh6Br15, Th6Br15H7 und Th6Br14C werden beschrieben. Die Strukturen dieser Verbindungen leiten sich von denen der bekannten Niobhalogenide Nb6F15 und Nb6Cl14 ab (MTh6Br15: Im3m; M = Mn: a = 1150,85(3) pm; Fe: a = 1148,81(4) pm; Co: a = 1150,68(2) pm; Ni: a = 1151,43(4) pm; Th6Br15H7: a = 1140,7(1) pm; Th6Br14C: Cmca; a = 1576,4(3) pm; b = 1416,0(4) pm; c = 1312,4(3) pm).
Abstract Bis((-)-strychninium)hexasulfide has been synthesized from (-)-strychnine and (NH4)2S5 in ethanolic solution at 0 °C. It is monoclinic, S. G. C2, with a = 34.21(1) Å, b = 7.59(2) Å, c = 7.74(1) Å, β = 103.0(1)°. As expected, the S62--anions occur as unbranched zig-zag-chains. Surprisingly, they do not show the common helical all-trans-conformation but the all-cis-conformation. The cations and the anions are linked by hydrogen bridges, running from the terminal sulfur atoms of the polysulfide dianions to the protonated nitrogen atoms of the monoprotonated (-)-strychnine molecules.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
