O estudo da diplomacia constitui um dos domínios mais tradicionais da História, no entanto a investigação destes temas nos períodos anteriores ao século XVII sofre com a desconfiança e o descrédito. Não obstante, as temáticas em questão têm recebido novas atenções por parte dos historiadores nas últimas décadas, sendo a relação entre Informação e Diplomacia um exemplo desses novos estudos. Observa-se que entre o final da Idade Média e a constituição do mundo moderno, os poderes laicos e eclesiásticos buscaram obter vantagens políticas através da coleta e do uso da informação. Com base nessa problemática, o presente artigo analisa dois casos, a campanha militar para a conquista de Ceuta e as repercussões da batalha de Alfarrobeira, no intuito de compreender o desenvolvimento das políticas de informação em finais da Idade Média e a crescente importância da informação para a diplomacia ibérica.
