Nenhuma escola estava preparada para a educação em tempos de pandemia. Analisou-se o período de fechamento das escolas na cidade de São Paulo, empregando o Conhecimento Pedagógico do Contexto (CPC), na perspectiva de professores de escola pública municipal (E1) e escola privada (E2). O estudo de caso buscou levantar qualitativamente as questões motivadoras de E1 e E2 para o retorno pós-pandemia: Retomar os componentes curriculares e objetos de aprendizagem? Favorecer a socialização promovida pelo ambiente escolar? O acolhimento foi considerado no retorno? No período de isolamento social, com as escolas fechadas, E1 enfrentou problemas relacionados a aspectos socioeconômicos e realidades do contexto social em que se insere a escola, enquanto E2 adotou estratégias que permitiram avaliar individualmente os perfis de cada aluno. A distância social entre E1 e E2, com as escolas fechadas, caracterizou-se pela “fome”: E1 assumiu prover alimento aos alunos, por meio do cartão merenda, sem interromper o processo educativo.
