A Hipertensão Arterial Sistêmica (HAS) também conhecida como pressão alta, é uma das doenças crônicas mais comuns e com complicações mais graves, na qual estima-se que cerca de 7,1 milhões de pessoas no mundo morrem anualmente devido a patologia e, que 4,5% da carga de doenças mundiais sejam acarretadas pela hipertensão. Sendo assim, estudar sobre HAS se faz necessário, uma vez que, muitas pessoas não conhecem ou possuem um conhecimento basal sobre a patologia, consequentemente isto pode estar relacionado a baixos índices de adesão ao tratamento e métodos de controle, sejam eles: alimentares, terapêuticos ou medicamentosos. O objetivo deste trabalho baseia-se em analisar o conhecimento da população acerca de informações relevantes sobre HAS, como: fatores pré-dispostos, tratamento terapêutico e métodos de controle, visto que, uma má conscientização nessas etapas pode impactar na qualidade de vida dos hipertensos. Sendo assim, foi distribuído em plataformas de redes sociais um questionário semiestruturado contendo questões sociodemográficas e referentes ao estilo de vida dos entrevistados, estes oriundos de munícipios do Sul de Minas Gerais. Os resultados obtidos evidenciaram que 89% não são portadores de hipertensão arterial, mas 56% afirmaram não possuir hábitos de vida saudável, 53% alegaram ser sedentários e 72% com estresse elevado, sendo estes fatores caracterizados como pré-dispostos a doença e, por fim, 66% disseram conhecer os fatores de risco. Contudo vemos a importância da atenção e educação à saúde, pois apesar de grande parte de uma população conhecer os riscos muitos deles não sabem como se prevenir, monitorar e tratar uma patologia de importância pública, como é o caso da Hipertensão Arterial Sistêmica.
