This article was organized in three parts. In the first one, a concise introduction to the History of Greek Culture and its historical environment is presented. The focus of the second part lies on Burckhardt's ideas on the emergence of the polis in Ancient Greece, and how the main thoughts of the Swiss historian tend to materialize in the Ancient past some theoretical conceptions of the nineteenth century. The Athens of Burckhardt is analyzed in the final part of this paper; the core of the author's approach, and the way he built the idea of the "state as evil" to the democratic Athens of the fifth and the sixth centuries BC are explained. At last, the very meaning of Burckhardt's Athens-a city-state degenerated by the government of its demoralized mob rule-, is discussed.

As narrativas míticas, entendidas aqui como um conjunto de discursos que emprestavam inteligibilidade, coerência e muitas vezes coesão às culturas antigas, estão absolutamente presentes nos currículos do 6º ano do ensino fundamental. O presente trabalho tem como principal intuito unir a noção de consciência histórica e as narrativas míticas em uma pesquisa empírica com os alunos do 6º ano do ensino público do município de Duque de Caxias/RJ. Dessa maneira, este paper vislumbra apresentar um conjunto de resultados de uma experiência pedagógica, ao criar um universo de alteridades, mas também de possibilidades de identificação e novas leituras de mundo por parte dos alunos ao entrarem em contato com sociedades pretéritas.

O comentário que segue tem como objetivo pôr em relevo algumas questões que foram surgindo na leitura do artigo "O ensino e a pesquisa em História Antiga no Brasil: Reflexões a partir dos dados da Plataforma Lattes", escrito pelo professor Dominique Santos, docente na Universidade Regional de Blumenau, bem como de seus coautores, integrantes do LABEAM -Laboratório Blumenauense de Estudos Antigos e Medievais. Como todo comentário, acabo ressaltando ao leitor que, mais do que fazer uma avaliação sistemática do artigo em questão, teço aqui uma leitura bem mais seletiva. Dessa maneira, chamarei atenção tão somente aos aspectos para os quais eu possa contribuir, de alguma forma, aos prolongamentos da reflexão dos autores.Em seus prolegômenos, o texto discute o processo de institucionalização da História Antiga no país, em especial o da formação da noção de clássico durante o século XIX, que teve absorção nos currículos escolares até a formação da primeira cátedra na Universidade de São Paulo. Economy and Society, one of the most influential oeuvres of the early twentieth century, with impact in several branches of the Human Sciences, has in one of its parts a text of particular interest to researchers of Ancient History, the Typology of Cities. Although Max Weber’s significant aims in composing his text were, blatantly, to evaluate the contemporary world, the density of the Weberian text, the fruit of a unique erudition, revealed an in-depth and singular analysis of the ancient Greek city. The purpose of this article is to analyze Weber’s interpretive choices, in the light of historiographical criticism and a careful analysis of the Typology, in articular as regards the ideal types which he made to understand the city of the ancient Greeks.
