Abstract. This work investigates Augmented Reality's (AR) potential in Geography teaching. As a case study, a puzzle that combines its regular pieces with virtual information was developed. Designed to middle school students, the application was named AR Jigsaw Puzzle and as its pieces are combined correctly, it displays the location of the soccer arenas built in the country to host the FIFA World Cup 2014. Two specialists in teaching used the application. After that, it was applied a questionnaire and an interview in order to find out possible applications of AR in Geography teaching as well as to receive feedback in order to improve the Puzzle. Results show that AR has potential to leverage learning experiences since it is combined to different technologies and provides flexibility to the teacher concerning the contents displayed.
