A presente pesquisa visa conhecer a influência dos sintomas ansiosos e depressivos na apropriação do conhecimento nos alunos de medicina de uma universidade brasileira. Conduziu-se dessa forma, um estudo de natureza transversal, descritiva e exploratória com 95 alunos regularmente matriculados em curso de medicina. Foram utilizados 3 instrumentos de avaliação: Escala de Ansiedade de Hamilton, Escala de Depressão do Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) e um questionário para avaliação da apropriação do conhecimento, criado pelos pesquisadores. Os resultaram apontaram para uma maior presença de sintomas ansiosos e depressivos em acadêmicas do sexo feminino. Além disso, a prevalência de ambos os sintomas foram maiores nos adultos jovens (96.8%), entre 19 aos 24 anos, havendo prejuízo autorreferido significativo na apropriação do conhecimento em alunos com sintomas ansiosos e depressivos moderados e graves. Dessa forma, espera-se que a pesquisa forneça subsídios para novas estratégias e ações interdisciplinares na promoção da saúde da população universitária.
