A casca de coco babaçu é um exemplo de resíduo lignocelulosico de grande produção representando cerca de 92% do peso total do fruto. Normalmente, é tratada como um resíduo sólido urbano e descartada em aterros sanitários, porém, pode ser considerada como uma alternativa de combustível sólido e utilizada em processos de conversão energética. Os processos de compactação de biomassas residuais, como a briquetagem, são uma alternativa para a produção de combustíveis sólidos mais competitivos no mercado, uma vez que resultam em um produto com maior densidade e melhores propriedades para transporte e manuseio. Porém, é necessário estudar o comportamento da matéria-prima aplicada à técnica. Um dos grandes questionamentos, no que se refere à produção de briquetes é a eficiência energética do processo produtivo. Nesse sentido, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a eficiência energética do processo de produção de briquetes de casca de coco babaçu (CCB), analisando-se o aumento da densidade energética da CCB e o consumo energético do processo, considerando-se diferentes temperaturas de compactação. A análise do consumo de energia foi realizada por meio de um medidor de qualidade de energia Power Pad III da marca AEMC, modelo 8335. Na compactação com temperatura de 30ºC a energia gasta foi de 0,2212 MJ e na compactação utilizando 100ºC foi de 0,3276MJ. Uma diferença de 0,1064 MJ a mais para concentrar menos energia. Dessa forma, entre as duas condições de processo de compactação analisadas, o processo que se indica é a que utilizou a menor temperatura, já que os demais parâmetros analisados no processo foram iguais e foi a condição que apresentou o menor gasto de energia.

Cuando el estrés oxidativo no es controlado de manera adecuada por los mecanismos antioxidantes de las células, se acelera el proceso de envejecimiento y se producen diversas enfermedades. En este trabajo se realizó un estudio computacional del acoplamiento molecular de la Glutatión peroxidasa humana 5, con ocho de los principales fitoquímicos que contiene la albahaca, con el fin de conocer el sitio y energía de acoplamiento de los compuestos. A partir de los resultados obtenidos se puedo observar que todos los compuestos de la albahaca tienen un nivel de acoplamiento de -7 Kcal/mol con el blanco biológico.
En este trabajo glosamos la figura del almirante Excmo. Sr. D. Carlos Valcárcel y Ussel de Guimbarda, glosa precedida por un breve estudio de su genealogía y heráldica. Recordaremos así la existencia de quien tuvo no solo una larga y meritoria trayectoria profesional, sino también una importante participación en una etapa de la historia de España que discurre entre regencias y reinados –unos breves y otros extensos– y la interpuesta Primera República. En el aspecto profesional, destacamos su intervención en la campaña del Pacífico, Valparaíso y El Callao, al mando de la fragata Resolución, y sus periodos al frente de la comandancia y capitanía general del departamento marítimo de Cartagena, ciudad de la que fue declarado hijo adoptivo. Respecto a su participación en la política, subrayaremos su desempeño, aunque breve, de la cartera de Marina, así como su cualidad de senador.
