Tri-(butanediol-monobutyrate) citrate (TBBC) as a new plasticizer for poly(lactic acid) (PLA) was synthesized via a two-step esterification. The chemical structure of TBBC was characterized by 1 H-nuclear magnetic resonance. The studies on solubility parameters, transparence, and storage stability indicated the good miscibility between PLA and TBBC. The glass transition, crystallization, thermal, and mechanical properties of PLA plasticized by TBBC were evaluated. With an increase in TBBC content, the glass transition temperature (T g ), melting point (T m ), and the cold crystallization temperature (T cc ) of plasticized PLA gradually shifted to a lower temperature. The elongation at break and flexibility were greatly improved by the addition of TBBC. After 30 days of storage, PLA plasticized with up to 20 wt% of TBBC exhibited good storage stability and remained the original transparence and mechanical properties. The flexibility of PLA/TBBC films can be tuned by changing TBBC content. The corresponding crystalline morphology and structure were investigated by Polarizing optical microscope and X-ray diffraction as well. This study revealed that TBBC was miscible with PLA and may therefore be a promising plasticizer for PLA-based packaging materials. POLYM. ENG. SCI., 55:205-213, 2015.

In this paper, a novel low leakage saddle junctionless field effect transistor with assistant gate is proposed. Its electrical properties have been extensively investigated by studying the influence resulting from variation of design parameters, such as the thickness of assistant gate, oxide layer thickness between the main and assistant gate, extension height of S/D contact, and the voltage of assistant gate. Compared with conventional structure, the proposed saddle junctionless field effect transistor with assistant gate shows much better performance at off state. The leakage current is effectively restrained, and the I on -I off ratio is largely improved. Design parameter optimization has also been performed.

In the title compound, [Co(NCS)2(C19H17N5O2)2(CH3OH)2], the CoII atom lies on an inversion center and is coordinated by two isothio­cyanate N atoms, two O atoms of methanol mol­ecules and two pyridine N atoms in a slightly distorted octa­hedral environment. Inter­molecular O—H⋯O and N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds join the complex mol­ecules into layers parallel to the bc plane.

Polyacrylamide (PAM) -HgS nanocomposites were successfully prepared in polyacrylamide (PAM) matrix. From TEM and XRD characterizations, the synthesized HgS nanocrystals were chain-like spherical in shape with a diameter of about 40-60 nm and high crystalline quality. The quantum-confined effect of HgS nanocrystals was confirmed by UV-vis diffuse reflection spectra. The optical properties of products were investigated by using photoluminescence (PL) spectra, which showed that HgS nanocrystals exhibited good optical properties with maximum emission peak at about 640 and 650 nm at different reaction temperatures. The interaction of HgS nanocrystals with PAM was studied through FT-IR spectroscopy and TG analysis, which suggested that Hg 2+ could interact with functional groups of PAM. The experimental results indicated that PAM not only induced nucleation, but also inhibited further growth of HgS crystals and play an important role in the formation of PAM/HgS nanocomposites. In addition, the possible mechanism of HgS nanoparticles growth in PAM solution was also discussed.
