Wstęp. Jakość życia przejawia się w przystosowaniu biologicznym, społecznym, podmiotowym i duchowym. Z tej perspektywy pojęcie to utożsamiane jest zarówno z wartościami otaczającego świata, jak i z jakością funkcjonowania człowieka. Można powiedzieć, że jest to zespół elementów przenikających się w różnych proporcjach i z różnym nasileniem, wśród których znajdują się takie obszary jak: współudział w życiu społecznym, dorobek twórczy, bogactwo przeżyć, poziom świadomości oraz poziom aktywności. Materiał i metody. Jakość życia, uwarunkowana stanem zdrowia 145 pielęgniarek, została zbadana w oparciu o polską adaptację kwestionariusza EQ 5D. Poza danymi demograficznymi zawiera on ocenę stanu zdrowia w 5 aspektach życia codziennego takich jak: możliwości ruchowe, samoobsługa, codzienna aktywność, stan psychiczny oraz globalna subiektywna ocena swojego zdrowia (tzw. EQ-VAS). Wyniki. Umiarkowane problemy w zakresie co najmniej jednej domeny jakości życia zgłosiło 65,52% respondentów, skrajne problemy 1,4%. Ból lub dyskomfort odczuwało 48,97% ankietowanych, niepokój lub obniżenie nastoju-50,3%. Problemy z chodzeniem zgłosiło 6,2%, z wykonaniem zwykłych czynności-10,34%. Ból i lęk są najczęściej zgłaszanymi problemami, zwłaszcza wśród młodszej grupy badanych kobiet. Średnia ocena stanu zdrowia-według wizualnej skali analogowej (visual analougue scale VAS)-wynosiła 78,85 punktów (SD 13,85). Wnioski. Niepokój i ból są częstymi problemami pielęgniarek, szczególnie młodszych. Średni wynik oceny stanu zdrowia obniżał się wraz z wiekiem. Nie stwierdza się istotnych różnic stanu zdrowia pielęgniarki w stosunku do stanu zdrowia populacji polskiej. Satysfakcja z pracy wpływa na jakość życia związaną ze stanem zdrowia, a stan zdrowia modyfikuje poziom satysfakcji z pracy.
