"Ramifications of Ideology: Mapping Contemporary Romanian Literature. After outlining the mutations occurring in the background of literary histories, the analysis that follows shows, by focusing on the relevance of periodization in literary history, that, covering several decades as it does, Mihai Iovǎnel’s History of Contemporary Romanian Literature: 1990-2020 works out open filiations and parallelisms that extend a time interval of contrasts and continuities. In his effort to assign another dimension to literary history through alliances with disciplines that cross a critically structured and metacritically developed literary area, Iovănel attempts to make literary history more permeable. Thus, a section of his work investigates how The History… reacts, from the post-Marxist materialism viewpoint, to the particularities determined by the transition from one cultural pattern to another. That segment examines conceptual and methodological ramifications, identifies lineages or vulnerabilities, and shows that the existence of an area of intersection between literary history and memory transforms The History… into a narrative. Finally, another part of the book is dedicated to demonstrating that what Benga-Țuțuianu calls an “objectifying” approach can meet blind spots that prove relevant for the recontextualization of literary production and for sketching out a type of cosmopolitan imagery—a springboard to the discussion about world literature. Nevertheless, the arguments summed up in the last segment of the book prove unequivocally that Iovǎnel’s History is a turning point in Romanian literary historiography. The present paper aims for an analysis on how the poems written by Moni Stǎnilǎ are evolving in relation to the periphery complex. A close reading approach highlights the dynamic reconfigurations of the aesthetic horizons, ready to break down canons and to suggest others, in a continuous refurbishment of images and functions that convert their original marks in order to create a world linked to the subject reconstruction.
The Poetics of Relatedness. Identities and Unifying Distances in Svetlana Cârstean's Writings): After outlining the mutations occurring in Svetlana Cârstean's writing, the survey (focusing on different types of alterity) shows that her poetry has a stroboscopic effect. It creates a multidimensional representation and spurs the development of a special journey, that may find the joints between individuality and the world stage. Along this journey and throughout the meetings/ separations (not only as a splintered existence, but also as an attempt to resize the unknown by means of language), the poetic voice reveals mesmerizing ways of re-composing identities. Language is the basic tool used to substitute and reconstruct an assembly that, ontologically, measures distances that may split up and unify as well. As a consequence of the relational model (between content and content-holder), the experience of cruelty and suffering is transferred from the body to the level of language: the body becomes the communication channel of the dominant language.
Being one of the most significant contemporary poetesses, Mariana Codruţ creates substantial effects in the structure of compressed sentences, which have an essential role in constructing the message. The current paper aims to examine the unique features that her poetry has developed for some decades. The poetics of existence surpasses the confrontation with spatial and temporal limits, and requires a holistic way of thinking about the place of humans in the world, which goes beyond the being-action dichotomy. The paper highlights the islanding process, and (starting from Deleuze’s remarks on Robinson Crusoe) emphasizes the difference between Defoe’s character and the lyrical voice. Thus, in Mariana Codruţ’s writings, the second genesis makes existence understood as continuous poetic creation, reflecting the mental atlas that allows the Omni vision to replace the ego vision. The poetess’ creative capacity resides in the position enabled by different feelings, completed by an ethical swing. Conceived as life acts (with distillation, intentness and dissemination), the poems do not avoid the (post)violent world, the images of power, the process of hybridization, and the touch of essentiality. Beyond the varying employment of connotation, poetry is the pulse, the truth, and the ascending way of living.
