The removal of nutrients by Scenedesmus sp. in a high-rate algal pond, and subsequent algal separation by coagulation-flocculation or flotation with ozone to recover biomolecules, were evaluated. Cultivation of Scenedesmus sp. in wastewater resulted in complete NH-H removal, plus 93% total nitrogen and 61% orthophosphate removals. Ozone-flotation obtained better water quality results than coagulation-flocculation for most parameters (NH-N, NTK, nitrate and nitrite) except orthophosphate. Ozone-flotation, also produced the highest recovery of lipids, carbohydrates and proteins which were 0.32 ± 0.03, 0.33 ± 0.025 and 0.58 ± 0.014 mg/mg of biomass, respectively. In contrast, there was a low lipid extraction of 0.21 mg of lipids/mg of biomass and 0.12-0.23 mg of protein/mg of biomass in the coagulation-flocculation process. In terms of biomolecule recovery and water quality, ozone showed better results than coagulation-flocculation.

The objective of the present study was to develop a combined system composed of anaerobic biofilter (AF) and floating treatment wetlands (FTW) coupled with microbial fuel cells (MFC) in the buoyant support for treating wastewater from a university campus and generate bioelectricity. The raw wastewater was pumped to a 1,450 L tank, operated in batch flow and filled with plastic conduits. The second treatment stage was composed of a 1000 L FTW box with a 200 L plastic drum inside (acting as settler in the entrance) and vegetated with mixed ornamental plants species floating in a polyurethane support fed once a week with 700 L of wastewater. In the plant roots, graphite rods were placed to act as cathodes, while on the bottom of the box 40 graphite sticks inside a plastic hose with a stainless-steel cable acting as the anode chamber. Open circuit voltages were daily measured for 6 weeks, and later as closed circuit with the connection of 1000 Ω resistors. Plant harvestings were conducted, in which biomass production and plant uptake from each of the species were measured. On average, system was efficient in reducing BOD 5 (55.1%), COD (71.4%), turbidity (90.9%) and total coliforms (99.9%), but presented low efficiencies regarding total N (8.4%) and total P (11.4%). Concerning bioenergy generation, voltage peaks and maximum power density were observed on the feeding day, reaching 225 mV and 0.93 mW/m 2 , respectively, and in general decaying over the 7 days. In addition, plant species with larger root development presented higher voltage values than plants with the smaller root systems, possible because of oxygen release. Therefore, the combined system presented potential of treating wastewater and generating energy by integrating FTW and MFC, but further studies should investigate the FTW-MFC combination in order to improve its treatment performance and maximize energy generation.

As águas subterrâneas do Aquífero Parecis (AP) representam a única fonte explorada para o abastecimento público de água potável do município de Vilhena - RO. Nesse sentido, a avaliação da qualidade da água determinada por análises físicas, químicas e microbiológicas, podem fornecer subsídios para a compreensão das condições da água consumida. No presente estudo, foram realizadas duas coletas de água subterrânea em 12 poços distribuídos na cidade: a primeira no período de estiagem (seca), em agosto de 2013; e a outra no período chuvoso, em dezembro de 2013. Os  parâmetros analisados foram os constituintes iônicos (F^-, Cl^-, NO₂^-,Br^-,NO₃^-,PO₄^-3,SO₄^-2,Na⁺,NH₃⁺, K⁺,Ca²⁺ eMg²⁺), os quais foram quantificados pela técnica de cromatografia iônica, enquanto que para as análises microbiológicas, o método utilizado foi o de membranas filtrantes em meio cromogênico. Os parâmetros pH e turbidez foram medidos por meio de pHmetro e turbidimetro portáteis. Os resultados apresentaram valores abaixo dos limites estabelecidos pela Resolução CONAMA 396/2008 e Portaria do MS 2.914/2011 para a turbidez e praticamente todos os constituintes iônicos, com exceção do nitrato (6 poços) e de amônia (1 poço), além de um pH ácido. O período chuvoso apresentou maior contaminação por coliformes totais e <em>Escherichia coli</em> que o período de estiagem, podendo estar associado às más condições dos poços, além de ser um aquífero livre, facilitando o escoamento de possíveis contaminantes. Em função dos resultados, destaca-se a importância do monitoramento constante da qualidade da água nas comunidades usuárias de fontes alternativas, evitando problemas à saúde humana

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of applying different nitrogen sources in the states of booting and silking on yield components and the wheat crop productivity (Triticum aestivum L., Quartz - OR Seeds). The experiment was conducted in Frederico Westphalen-RS. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design, with eight treatments and four replications. The treatments consisted of combinations of different sources and forms of N application that follow: T1 - control (no N), T2 - Fertilization base + urea, T3 - Basic fertilization + ammonium nitrate, T4 - Fertilizing base + urea + foliar nitrogen, T5 - Basic fertilization + ammonium nitrate + foliar nitrogen, T6 - Basic fertilization + foliar nitrogen, T7 - Basic fertilization + urea + ammonium nitrate and T8 - Basic fertilization + ammonium nitrate + urea. The ammonium nitrate application associated with the supplemental foliar N resulted in an increase in grain yield of 51.5% over the control to the control. Other income components also obtained average with significant magnitudes verified by Duncan test at 5% error probability.

O controle e a preservação da qualidade das águas subterrâneas são as principais tarefas a serem realizadas quando se trata de planejamento ambiental desse recurso. Desta forma, o presente estudo tem como objetivo determinar as linhas de fluxo das águas subterrâneas no município de Vilhena-RO, Região Amazônica. Foram levantados dados de poços e mapeadas as fontes potenciais de contaminação incluindo-se os postos de combustíveis, cemitério municipal, poços de abastecimento contaminados e lixões desativados. Por meio do mapa de superfície potenciométrica foi possível constatar alguns pontos vulneráveis, como o poço número 27, de responsabilidade do Serviço Autônomo de Águas e Esgoto, o qual está localizado em uma área de convergência de fluxos, podendo assim receber cargas contaminantes oriundas do cemitério municipal e de dois lixões desativados. Sendo assim, o estudo da superfície potenciométrica do Aquífero Parecis é uma valiosa ferramenta de espacialização em Sistema de Informações Geográficas que permite, através da observação do mapa gerado, localizar os melhores pontos para instalação de novos poços de abastecimento, postos de combustíveis, entre outros, fornecendo subsídios para o processo de gestão, ocupação dos solos e controle da explotação das águas subterrâneas em escala municipal.
